Description: Les Jardins De La Carambole is a new restaurant in Hue serving Vietnamese and French cuisine. It is inside the Citadel, very near the Forbidden City. It's an impressive reconstruction of a French Colonial Villa. Great attention was paid to every detail of the historic reconstruction.

MinMax Travel Day Tours provided most of what we needed on our family trip. Still, there were a few times we ventured out and about to find restaurants and shopping without the tours. While in Hue, Vietnam we obtained a recommendation to eat at Les Jardins de La Carambole from the locals. It is a French restaurant with Vietnamese and French cuisine. We soon found they offer breakfast, brunch and late night meals.

Almost anywhere you eat or travel in Vietnam it is going to be affordable. Most meals were between $5 and $20 making it perfect for our family to afford. The food, service, atmosphere and value were all just what we had hoped for. The ambience alone made you fit into the culture and enjoyment of the city. Here you can make certain you are dining in a restaurant you trust if you are afraid of eating on the streets. More importantly, you can try Hue cuisine. It might not be the most authentic food, but it was enough of an experiment for the kids, so we got through the meal without trouble. It was also easy to get to from the tourist areas.

What a lovely restaurant! The building itself is quit beautiful - French colonial architecture, tastefully decorated too. The food was wonderful! A nice blend of modern Vietnemese cuisine with some French influence here and there. The staff was really nice and exceptionally attentive - even showed us how to correctly eat some of the dishes. Nice ambiance, they even had someone playing the piano live. All in all, nice experience! Obviously expect to spend more here than you normally would at any other Vietnemese restaurant, but you won't be disappointed.

A reasonable place to try Hue cuisine. The ambiance is quite lovely. The tasting menus are interesting. If you are afraid to eat on the street (which tends to be much better in the right places(, this should do and it was better than some of the other high rated options.

Visited in Jan 2013 to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary - as restaurant was recommended to us by friends. The restaurant was beautiful, clean and great decor. We ordered the banquet and the food was fabulous. However the food came out so fast we felt like they wanted the 6 of us out of there as soon as possible - they were taking an empty plate away and replacing it with the next course. We advised the restaurant when booking and when we were there that it was for a special occasion - our 30th wedding anniversay but they didn't acknowledge that at all - maybe that is Vietnamese culture, not sure. When you get dressed up to go out for dinner for a special occasion you don't expect it to be all over in an hour. Also felt for a restaurant of that calibre the ambiance could be improved by dimming the lights.
