“Relaxing hotel with lovely staff.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014

I have been extremely pleased with my stay at Ana Mandara, I had some concerns after the damage caused by last years typhoon but there was no need to worry. We stayed in a beach villa which was lovely, with nice outdoor shower and terrace. The spa was good and very affordable, the gym was pretty good compared to many and they offer free tai chi every morning. Breakfast is very good, the only bad thing is the bread but good bread is extremely hard to find in Asia anyway. I work in travel and would agree that perhaps some of the facade is looking a little tired but I would definitely say that this hotel sits nicely in the 4*+ category and will not hesitate to recommend it as a great beach option in the hue area.ps there is a lovely local fish restaurant on the beach 50 metres from the hotel called Quan SEN, lovely owner great food and cheap beer around 60p a bottle HIGHLY recommended.

We arrived after 3 nights in busy Hanoi. It was just what we needed a amazing location with great rooms. We have been lucky enough to stay in some top hotels as my partner works in travel and I have to say the Ana Mandara for the price is excellent. We had a lovely beach villa, amazing view of the sea and our own private terrace.

The breakfast was good lots of choice, your standard bacon and eggs and the local pho noodles, fresh salads and fruit and pastures galore.

Nice swimming pool and bar and two evening restaurant options.
I can also highly recommend a local restaurant down on the beach called Quan San, run by the happiest lady. Great fresh fish and local beer at an amazing price.

The Hotel also offers free transfers to Hue center, free wifi, beach towels, DVDs, a well stocked gym and a great spa at good prices.

A great option if you want a quite place away from busy Hoi An

This is really good value for money. The hotel looks new and is well maintained. Rooms are new, very clean and modern. Very good size and huge bathroom. Lovely hot showers, pool by the sea. Breakfast is in a restaurant which has an al fresco section facing the sea. It's all about enjoying the relaxed surroundings, cool breezes and beautiful view and beach.

It seems that part of the hotel- some rooms- were affected by the recent typhoon. However, doesn't seem to have affected the facilities. In march, the hotel was very quiet and wasn't packed. That's how we like it!

As with fancy hotels in Vietnam, the restaurant Flavours wasn't cheap, relative to restaurants in the town. The winning main courses were the fresh steamed fish and calamari/ squid. Some starters were not bad but they ran out of ice cream and the thai sticky mango rice was bad. (Probably to punish me for ordering thai food in Vietnam)

One winning factor was the spa. It was fancy and the massages were incredibly affordable. Ask them whether they still have the discount for off-peak massages. However, there were only two masseurs, one male and one female, so the four of us had to take turns. We were very happy with the price and had a relaxing time.

Service was also quite good. The service at some other hotels we stayed in the Da Nang and Hoi An was not as polished.

Would certainly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a value for money, quiet beachside get away.

Dear chicalocoPanama
Thank you for taking the time to give your kind comments about us. You know every year in this city, I always take a deep breath in when the winter coming from Oct until February, and breath out from March until September when the summer weather approaching because it is so suitable for a beach short break, and also it’s perfect time to enjoy some quality relaxing time like taking cultural visits of this city, spa pampering at our La Cochinchine Spa… I also thank you for your comment about the over price of Hue Flavor restaurant, we will consider it and make amendment soon. Finally, I do hope to see you again soon in Hue, Vietnam.

We have just returned from Vietnam , having experienced TET lunar new year to the first time
What a wonderful experience ,we hope to come again for TET
We stayed for 16 nights at Ana Mandara Hue , this was our fifth visit to this fabulous hotel in two years
We feel that the service , quality , and friendliness in this hotel , is amongst the best we have experienced in Asia
As we said in our last post ,we find it hard to say anything negative about this hotel , in fact we feel
things have got better
The sleep quality is the best ever ,the beds are so comfortable ,it's hard to get up in the morning
But it is well worth getting up early to see beautiful sunrise
Breakfast is excellent , always plenty ,and lots of variety
Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff
Everyone is so friendly, and you are always greeted with a big smile and wave
We have been to many hotels in Asia ,and Ana Mandara is definitely our favourite hotel ,so much so ,we have booked to return in July
A big thank you to Jerry and all the staff at Ana Mandara ,for making our holidays so enjoyable
We look forward to seeing you all again in July
Robert & June

Dear Robert & June
Again, thank you so much for taking the time to give your third generous comments about us. I have nothing much to say to you because all of us here is looking forward to seeing you in July ( of course, Beach Villa 138 is now Robert & June's Villa). Again there is nothing to say about this month, because it’s summer and peak season month in Hue city, surely all will be amazing.

Last June, our family of four (two teen age boys) stayed in two beach-front villas. The layout and design (especially the sleeping area and garden shower) are lovely, although some of the sofa cushions are a bit worn. Part of sea wall had fallen from sever weather last season, but the property is otherwise in fine shape. Wonderful and inexpensive spa option, too. Dramatic sunrises and picture perfect images of traditional fishing boats right off beach.

Someone in one of these threads complained about breakfast, but I would say we found it to be fantastic. There was always a full complement of tropical fruit (including dragon fruit, pineapple, rambutan), eggs cooked to order, French breads and pastries, and pho and other local fare. We also found enough people to speak English, so no complaints there, either.

We took advantage of half-day tour of Hue that came as part of hotel package. The tour included the imperial palace, the ancient Thien Mu Pagoda, and the market. We also hitched a ride down the Parfum River for $20. (Our guide and driver met us when we disembarked on the river bank.)

And if you need laundry done, go with the "pack the suitcase" package. A little expense, but worth it.

Overall, an excellent experience, and one that we would recommend without hesitation.

Room Tip: Villa on the beach.

My girlfriend found this resort and set up a three day stay for us in January.
We were so amazed and enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned for a second vacation in February and had another wonderful time.
On both trips we took an hour flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue. A driver was waiting for us at Hue"s airport.
When we arrived at the resort I was amazed, I thought we were in Bali. Clean sandy beach, large waives.
Beautiful open Architecture right on the beautiful beach of Hue. Most rooms at the resort are condo style.
We stayed in one of the Villas which are right on the beach. The Villas are like small homes without kitchens. Large bedroom, study room and a bathroom that will take your breath away.
We spent one day visiting the downtown area and the historic castle of Hue.
I cannot say enough about the food, staff , spa and wonderful Villa on the beach. Inside the Villas you'll enjoy the best wood, beautiful tile, beautiful marble and fixtures.
On our second trip we rode the free bikes from the the hotel in the neighborhood next to the hotel. We were both moved by the friendliness of the people. When we passed children they would yell " Hello, Hello, How are you ?".
To make a longer story short, This Resort was so great in January that we went again in February.
Great resort for couples!!

Room Tip: Book a Villa, its worth the extra cost.

Although the hotel has a nice location and the staff is very friendly it is really not a five-star hotel. The uniforms of the waiters are all dirty, they barely speak English and the food... Don't get me started on the food. Breakfast is extremely poor, the bread and croissant seem to be from the day before.
The facilities lack maintenance which gives a dirty appearance to the hotel. The rooms and the swimming pool are quite nice, but the rest is very bad. Example of poor service:
Although the hotel had only about 14 guests, when we asked for a late check-out because our train was only at 7H30 p.m. They immediately said that we had to leave the room at 2 p.m. or we would have to pay half a day. Two hours latter they were calling our room informing the check out was at 1 p.m., and in the next 12 hours the asked us 4 times at what time we were leaving! A late check out is a courtesy for foreigner costumers, that normally have to wait for a plain our another transport, and that actually doesn't carry additional costs to the hotel if the hotel is almost empty!
I won't recommend this hotel to anybody. I'm sorry, but with so many nice hotels this one is no up to pair. The only reason we didn't change hotels was because it was fully paid.
