Tried this restaurant for the first time as a local business associate recommended it for dinner.

The meal was extraordinary .. a roast duckling pig that rivaled any roast pig I had in Hong Kong or elsewhere.

So glad to have been taken here for dinner DMS this is certainly a restaurant I will come back to again.

A good friend recommended this family run restaurant to us on a recent visit to HCMC. It was without doubt the highlight meal of our trip.

This is the kind of little hidden place that knows what it's doing and does it really well. We chatted with the chef/son of the owner, Tri, who is very friendly and passionate about his cooking.

I think the food at Tan Nha would actually be good enough to get a Michelin Star.

I tried this restaurant the first time when I was 10 ... mostly 25 years ago. Founded nearly 40 years ago, the restaurant provides many Chinese dishes and each dish is really amazing . I think this is one of the best in town

This is a tiny restaurant that is hard to find. Their specialty is roasted suckling pig and it is delicious. They serve you the whole pig which probably weight 5 or 6 pounds as it is very small. The specialty is in the separation of the skin that is very thin and crisped to where it is almost like fine sheets of crystal that are thin like a potato chip and just as crisp. One places the skin inside a steamed bun along with green onions and a sauce that when combined make for a heavenly mouthful. Once only dines on the skin and when finished they remove the pig carcass and then prepare the remaining meat in a sauce. The whole dining event is spectacular and although the restaurant is hard to find and really is a whole in the wall it is definately worth going out of the way to find and dine at. They need a little notice on the pig but what a meal.

Restaurant Tân Nhã goes back 35 years. Owned and operated by the same gentleman featured in pictures taken with the King of Denmark back when both were younger. For as long as I remembered, Tân Nhã was famous for roasted whole piglets and pigeons. Of all the roasted "heo sửa" I have eaten everywhere, there's no doubt Tân Nhả's have got to be the ultimate. Ordered in advance, the little fellow comes with the heavenly skin detached and pre-cut in bite size. There is little or no fat under the crispy skin. Pick it up with a pair of chopstick, dip it in the honey sauce and feel it shatters between your teeth as you chew down on it. Between the subtle, unctuous flavor of a piglet, the sweetness of the honey sauce and the crispy texture of the perfectly lacquered skin, you'll recognize that it takes 4000 years of culture to come up with such an irresistible combination for your taste buds. After that 1st act, the piglet is taken back to the kitchen and reappears on a platter all chopped up in bite size. If the 1st dish qualified as an overture, the meat platter would be a waltz; it'll whirl you away with bite after bite of soft, tender meat. At the end of our fabulous meal, the owner/chef came to speak to us. A white haired fellow, he reminisces about the good and harsh time during the pre and post 75 era, I recognize he's among the rank of the old guard of Vietnamese chefs, obviously passionate and dedicated to his craft. He proudly announced that he is passing the torch to the next generation; his only son is now manning the oven and was the one who cooked our marvelous meal.
Any foodie looking for a genuine, exceptional experience ought to seek out Tân Nhã. Its modest entrance, a true "hole in the wall", is located on the side street, the staircase leading to the dining room is built back in 50's, so watch out for your head tall gringos.
