This restaurant is very popular with both Vietnamese and tourists and always seems to be busy. Extensive menu and food is good. They could cater a bit better to the foreigners because it would be nicer if the beer was colder. Staff are efficient and helpful and will explain the dishes if required. The menu is in Viet and English. This place is recommended and has a special place for me as I met my wife there :-). We often go back there when we visit Saigon.

My guide told me about this restaurant and we went there, a busy dinner times with more than 300 people seating in two stories building.
The unique part is on the ground floor at the left and right side we can see the stalls of the local food being made, fresh and we saw directly, if we like we ask the waiter to wrire in our order form. So even i dont really know about the vietnamese food, by looking and seeing , i can choose what i like, what i can eat and looks all yummy
For the drink i order a fresh coconut

Is fully recommended for the first timer and who like to try the vietnamese food
A good quality, very busy, non air conditioned but very reasonable price

Two things - firstly we have spent the last 12 years as owners and hosts of a modest B & B in New Zealand and I believe this qualifies us to speak about the hospitality and tourism industry. Secondly we have travelled to many countries and experienced restaurants in more then 20 different parts of the world. i would rate our dining experience tonight at Quan An Ngon, Ho Chi Minh City as the very worst ever by a huge margin. i have never rated a restaurant below 5, ever before We came to Vietnam for a little over 3 weeks to explore its diversity and to see and experience, first hand, the wonderful things we have heard others say. Well we have had a fantastic time and we will do all that we can to promote Vietnam as a fabulous tourist destination. We have met Vietnamese people leading ordinary everyday lives and seen the simple poverty of the Hmong villages in the north - we have also been fortunate enough to have been entertained by senior government officials. Our time has been rich and ever so greatly enjoyed. The Vietnamese have left us with an impression of humble grace, warmth, amazing hospitality and we thank them most sincerely for our wonderful experience.
Sadly our last night in Ho Chi Minh City, our last night in Vietnam has been spoiled by an unbelievably disappointing dining experience. We thought after dining at the Hanoi sister Restaurant of Quan An Ngon that we would be assurred of a final night that would continue our positive expences. In some 25 occasions of dining out we have enjoyed at least three where our rating would be ten out of ten, at least five where our rating would be nine out of ten and for the others they have all been at least seven or eight out of ten.
Until tonight. Quan An Ngon I rate you you at best two out of ten. i would never return and i hope that my harsh review will cause others to think twice before they cross your door. You are a disgrace to the restaurants of Vietnam.
We ordered the fried pancake dish that we enjoyed so much at your sister restaurant in Hanoi. Your effort was way less then half as good and then you added a 7,000 dong surcharge for the rice paper wraps - are you nuts? We ordered snails with garlic and they arrived so over-cooked and tough that we struggled to eat even half of them. We ordered a BBQ pork dish ( close to spare ribs as there were small bones in each piece ). The meat was tough, tasteless and hugely unsatisfactory. Then to cap it all off when the bill arrived you wacked in a 50,000 dong item which we queried, only to be told it was an error - yeah right!!!!. if I seem angry, you have it in one, i am. you spoiled our last night and have left a sour taste in our mouth. i am sorry Vietnam - you have been wonderful and we have so enjoyed our time here - such a shame that we had to encounter the rotten apple in the barrel.

Would have to say that this was our most delicious meal in Ho Chi Minh City. The food was tasty, well priced, service was great, lovely atmosphere and great local beer. We recommended this restaurant to other travellers we met on our trip. If you are visiting Ho Chi Minh City, you have to visit Quan An Ngon, it is opposite the Reunification Palace, so easy location to find.
