“Cheap, clean, great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013 via mobile

I wasn't sure what to expect from Bich Duyen as it was the cheapest hotel I booked in Vietnam, but was pleasantly surprised by what is a lovely and clean small hotel.

The free breakfast was a nice plus, and the location in the backpacker area is fantastic - there are plenty of places to get a cheap manicure, beer, bowl of pho or pork roll within a stone's throw of the hotel.

Extremely friendly and cheerful receptionist guy! Made us start each day with as smile :) Was also helpful and booked us a nice (though popular) tour to the mekong delta. Breakfast was good and sufficient, the daily squeezed tiny-oranges juice is great :) A bit overpriced in our opinion.

Stayed for one night here and really enjoyed our stay with them. They are very friendly and welcoming and someone is always up in flash to the reception to welcome you and help with anything you need when you come and go. Breakfast and drinks in the morning are included too and there is a nice place to sit and relax in the lobby. Just around the corner from all the action but far enough away from it if you're not interested and you just want a great value, hassle free place in Saigon to explore the rest of the city. They'd even put a blind in our room to cover the light coming through a small window from the hall at night, it was nice to see they'd thought of all the little things like that. None of those circuit breaker key tags either so you can actually leave things on charge when you go out. The rooms are a good size considering the location too. Highly recommended!

For the price, this is a great option. For big city prices, this was very reasonable and the price included breakfast which was basic (choice of eggs, fruit, tea or coffee) but perfectly adequate and quite a standard option for Asia based on past experience. The hotel was clean, well maintained and the staff were very friendly and helpful (when required). The only downside was that because it is a terraced accommodation, the halls are quite narrow and the noise (from noisy guests) seemed to travel well into our room, particularly when they returned from their night on the tiles - maybe a sign asking guests to be respectful of others wouldn't go amiss but again, this is maybe more of an issues with ignorant guests rather than the hotel. We would also have preferred a window but again, personal preference and budget so we put up without.

Room Tip: Request room with window

I have just spent 3 days at this hotel in room 301 and I could not have stayed at a better place, The Hotel is very clean and tidy, it has a great breakfast and it's located in a quiet lane so you can have a good nights sleep. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to stay in a room at the front of the hotel on one of the lower floors

We have stayed here 4 times, mainly because of its position as its close to the travel agents that we use to travel around Vietnam as most of the buses leave from one street away and close to the main market and the shops we use near Saigon square. Also close to many main sites to visit. This family run hotel and staff will help you with any travel details that you may have problems with, the breakfast is okay. If age is against you, could have trouble with the stairs if this is the case, suggest the Vien Dong Hotel which is just around the corner. Since this is one of the better budgets hotel suggest you book well in advance.

Room Tip: go for a room with a window

Stayed here twice already. Excellent place, location, and staff. Only slight downside is that you go to use a stairway to go to and from your room. Otherwise, i would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.
