The room was really clean, the stuff so friendly, they can cheer you up every morning, the breakfast is poor, the A/C worked properly, but the wifi doesn't work on the 5. floors. We tried and it was okay at every floor, except on our floor, in our room.
We paid 24 dollars / double and a single bed - for one night- breakfast inclueded.
Good location, and not noisy! good price. I can recommend for everybody.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5. floors have got a terrible wifi

We booked the Standard Room, which was very value for money, considering the price and top notch service! The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and I had a very comfortable stay! This hotel is located in Pham Ngu Lao, a famous backpacker street, which was good for us as it was within walking distance to all attractions around HCMC. It was also very near to many tourist bus operators, which was convenient for us as we had to go and board a bus to Mui Ne. This hotel is not too near to Ben Thanh market (if your primary motive is for shopping only) but it's central enough to be within walking distance to everywhere else (if you're in HCMC for a sight-seeing trip). However, the walk to Ben Thanh market was not too far away if you take a slow stroll. Else, Mai Linh and Vinasun taxis are easily available!

We had a lovely experience of Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam all thanks to the efficient staff of Bich Duyen, particularly Chanh, who was very patient and professional! We e-mailed him many times back and forth to request for the staff to help us with pre-booking some tickets (bus, water puppet show) and to finalize our tours for Mekong and Chu Chi Tunnel. We were "WOW-ed" by the fast and responsive e-mail replies and it's all in good English! The prices of the tours are market prices, so you do not need to worry about being overcharged if you arrange your tours with the hotel. The hotel and its staff are very honest in their dealings and there was no hassle. Our tours were good and we enjoyed ourselves very much.

Breakfast was OK with french loaf and eggs though it's the same everyday. But the cheerfulness of the staff is commendable. Always energetic and they'll try their best to make you feel welcomed. The staff was also kind enough to keep our bags for us after we checked-out and continue exploring the city. All in all, a recommended place to stay in HCMC!

The hotel is simple and gives you a hassle-free hotel experience that you could ask for. The service is commendable. The staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. They'd greet you with an energetic "good morning" once you wake up and go down from your room in the morning and would immediately ask what you want for breakfast. Although they serve the same breakfast every morning (lemonade/tea/coffee, french bread, butter, jam and eggs (scrambbled, sunny side up, omelette? up to you!) it's just enough to make you well charged in the morning to walk around HCMC. If you don't want the same breakfast everyday especially if you'll be staying there longer than 3 days no worries because the hotel is near a lot of restaurants and side-street food stalls that are open as early as 6am so you could still have different choices of food for breakfast and/or for the other meals of the day.

The hotel is also well coordinated with some travel agencies/bus companies in the city so the staff could immediately book you with your preferred tour packages/travel schedule. They could also arrange private car rentals for you especially if you opt to go alone or just your group to the Cu Chi Tunnel or other places outside the main city. So if you don't have an itinerary when you get to HCMC, that's fine because once you stepped in BIch Duyen you'll have an instant itinerary courtesy of the staff!haha!

The bed and comfort rooms are also very clean and well maintained. A/C in our room do not get colder than 25 deg though but it's fine since the room has an electric fan.hehe! Because it's a budget hotel don't expect that it has an elevator. I'm not sure how many floors the hotel has, but for your convenience choose the lower floors but if you want a better view of the city then stay in the higher floors with windows not blocked by adjacent hotels/buildings.

Lastly the hotel has a reasonable room price for as low as $10/night making it a highly recommended hotel for travellers who want to visit HCMC.:)

We enjoyed our stay at the Bich Duyen. It was our first stop in an around the world trip that included a few months in SE Asia. The hotel has pleasant rooms and is located in a very central location in the city. Most importantly as we would find out throughout our travels of the region, the staff spoke english very well and was able to help us find our feet in the city.

Pros:
Great staff and location
Comfy beds and attentive maid service

Cons:
No elevators so expect a bit of a climb to the higher up rooms

The Bich Duyen Hotel is a simple, straightforward hostel in the heart of the backpacker district of HCMC. There is nothing special with their facilities, but what won me over were the very friendly and helpful staff. Booked through hostels.com, I got a standard room good for 3 people for around 27A$ a night. Good value for money considering you feel safer here and the staff speak good English, which is so important when in Vietnam. I compared to other hostels around the area and found out that some actually offer cheaper rates, but most of the staff I found could speak very little English. Also, the room rates already include breakfast, which is freshly cooked on order.

The only negative thing I can think of with the Bich Duyen Hotel is the lack of elevator facilities. The staff were kind enough to help us carry our luggage all the way to the 4th floor, so we didn't really have a lot of issues about it. Just be reminded that you have to be fit and ready for exercise if you are placed on a high level floor.

If you can spare around 50$ a room a night, I suggest for you to go to a 3 star hotel. There are many in HCMC. If you are on a tight budget, however, 27$ a night divided by 3, for 3 people in a room is extremely reasonable and I would recommend for you to stay at the Bich Duyen Hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor only. Any higher than that feels like a hike!
