“Excellent Stay!”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

This hotel had all the right elements to make an excellent stay. We spent 5 days here during our family trip. The rooms were spacious and always very clean. Breakfast on the balcony was a great touch. We looked forward to waking up to fresh bread and eggs and hot coffee. Anh, who manages this hotel, was very helpful and worked really hard to make our stay perfect. We were the with our kids and they always liked chatting with Anh The area has tons of great restaurants with well priced food and generally a great vibe. We would definitely come back to this hotel.

Zonked and a tad overwhelmed, we were relieved to be greeted by Anh at the Hong Han Hotel in HCMC. Every morning we enjoyed scrambled eggs and baguettes for breakfast on the balcony overlooking the busy backpacker street. Bars, tailors, shops and restaurants were all nearby and Anh did a fantastic job of directing us to all the best spots to eat and drink. It was handy having helpful staff like Anh, he had good english and booked activities and transport for us with no fuss. We wish there was an Anh at every place we stayed! It was nice having a friendly face to report back to at the end of the day even if he did laugh at the prices we paid for a cyclo ride! Thanks for a clean and tidy room, we were very comfortable and pleased with our stay at the Hong Han and impressed by the five star service from the staff. Thanks Anh!!

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the lower levels as there is no lift. (Anh does do a good job of carrying your...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hong Han Hotel for three nights and really enjoyed it. So many good points -

- Location was excellent - in the heart of the backpacker's district and walking distance to a lot of main attractions. And if you don't feel like walking, the locals hanging out by the road are more than happy to take you around on the backs of their motor scooters for a small price.

- Our room was great - comfortable queen size bed, television with HBO, very spacious, very clean. Bathroom was a little basic (I don't like stall-less showers!) but otherwise okay.

- It's suuuuuper cheap to stay there ... great value for money!

- Free breakfast! Fresh bread with butter and strawberry jam and eggs however you like them. You eat on the balcony which overlooks Bu Vien Street below.

- ANH IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was up super late to welcome us, then got up early again the next day to make us breakfast ... booked our CuChi Tunnels tour ... booked our bus tickets to Phnom Penh ... gave us loads of good advice on where to go and what to do. Always cheerful and friendly. Top bloke all around.

Only thing that got up my nose was the shower because sometimes (this was usually only a problem at night) the water was barely luke warm. Saigon is hot enough so that it's not too uncomfortable, but it's still a pain trying to get shampoo out of your hair in cold water. Other than that ... A+ experience!

This was such a great start to our holiday in Vietnam and was definatly the stand out of all our accomodation. Anh was an amazing host and his knowledge and unbias advise made our stay amazing. He organised flights and accomodation at our next destination and we were made to feel very welcome. When we asked where good street food was he told us, he didnt just send us to his brothers or cousins restaurant which happened a bit in our travels. I cant wait to go back and stay there again. We had a great view, basic but good breakfast, excellent location and clean linen and towels.

Having thought ourselves smart for booking accommodation before arrival, we landed in HCMC from Thailand around 9pm and headed for what we thought was our hotel in a taxi. Upon arriving we discovered that we booked the wrong hotel - we wanted to stay here (via recommendation by the LP) but we booked (and paid for) "Hong Ha", some hotel in District 11, the wonderful Anh (he lives up to the hype) ushered us in, brought us juice and helped us call the other hotel to sort out the mess. We were so exhausted at this point and so taken with Anh's hospitality to two people who weren't even his guests that we decided to stay there and forget the $20 we had paid to the other place. That same night Anh also arranged a tour to the Cu Chi tunnels for us for the very next morning. He was incredibly helpful and friendly. The rooms: the first night we stayed on the 3rd floor and on the second night on the 4th. The climb up is annoying, but since you're likely to only do it 1-2 times a day, it's fine. The rooms are very clean, in great condition, bright and space is well used. The bars are a little further up the road so we weren't bothered by any noise.

Overall we loved our stay here and were impressed with everything about the hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room on a lower floor if possible :-)

This hotel offers very good value. The night is 22 dollars for a double room. The hotel is super clean and the staff helpful. I'm not sure about the location as we only stayed one day in ho chi Minh but the street the hotel is on is very busy with bars, nail bars, small restaurants etc

We stayed at this hostel last October. The place is very clean (probably the cleanest we've seen in Vietnam), the host, Anh is very friendly and helpful. The location is great as well, in the middle of the Backpacker'S Quarter, not for away from the city centre and all sightseeing spots. Well recommended.
