“Beautiful building and art”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2013

Loved the building most of all. The art was also of high quality and interesting. There was a small charge but it was worthwhile. It was not busy on the day we visited.

“Sounded like something worth visiting, but..”

Not so very interesting museum, the one thing that caught my eyes were the elevator, the first one to be installed in Ho Chi Minh.

“Great building!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

The building itself was worth the visit. Beautiful old colonial building, really kept as it was. The art was very well organised between the different floors and rooms. Lovely to get a feel for Vietnamese art.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

You don't have to be a lover of fine arts to love the Fine Arts Museum. Housed in a magnificent, rambling colonial-era mansion, this extensive collection of mostly 20th century paintings and sculptures reflects a combination of the Oriental and Western influences that were shaping the country during that turbulent time. The quality and beauty of the works also demonstrate a resilience of the soul that such outstanding pieces of art could be created at a time of utter turmoil and bloodshed in Vietnam. Naturally, the many wars the country endured are depicted in some of the works but so too are everyday lives through portraits and street scenes, and the beautiful natural environment. Take an hour out of the frenetic pace of Saigon life to enjoy the peace and beauty of this place. There's a small entrance fee, free lockers for bags and a nice coffee shop in the grounds. It's worth a visit.

“The best in the city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

but unfortunately not as good as other places in the world, this said an interesting look into some authentic artworks of Vietnam and after the visit a nostalgia trip next door with a nice coffee house worth a look as well as part originally of the same complex as the museum
