“Free concert Sunday mornings”
Reviewed October 8, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the Hotel Continental across the street from the Opera House and was told there was a free concert from the top steps on Sunday mornings.
We took our coffee street side at the HC cafe tables and had a wonderful view of the nine-piece group playing an instrumental Latin concert with guitars, bongos and a variety of other instruments. A large crowd of several hundred people had gathered on the traffic plaza, curbs and the park across the street to enjoy the music while morning traffic continued around the venue. Their rendition of "Hotel California" was the most beautiful I have heard and the musicianship on all selections was awesome. What an interesting setting.
We walked through the smallish interior later and found it lovely though the old, velour-covered, wooden theater seating was cramped by Western standards.
Being centrally located amongst other District 1 sights and free admission to view the interior made this an easy, worthwhile stop on our walking treks. We missed the performance the next evening due to travel but the Sunday morning concert was a great way to enjoy music, mix with the locals and people-watch.

“Beautiful facade”
Reviewed October 8, 2013 via mobile

We visited the place during the night, and was not disappointed. The building is an example of the French architectural structure in Vietnam.

we went to a show featuring a young troupe of vietnamese performers. The show mixed modern dance and vietnamese culture. Good setting. Small theatre but well maintained

The building looked interestingl from the outside... unfortunately that was the only part we got to see. We were not permitted entrance without the purchase of an opera ticket. Since we only wished to see the architecture and the opera tickets weren't particularly cheap, we couldn't go inside.

“My favorite of the colonial buildings in Saigon”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

Of all the colonial buildings we saw in Saigon this one is the one I liked the most, really beautiful architecture, and it looks very nice inside too, unfortunately we didn't get to go in.

As an added value there are always couples taking wedding pictures and/or models taking fashion pictures here and around Notre Dame, personally i found that more interesting that the buildings themselves.
