“Nice hotel, nice room, nice food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2013

We recently stayed in Executive room at the Huong Sen Hotel. The hotel is quite big, and has a good corner site on a busy junction, in District 1. The corner room was very nice and large, with a balcony overlooking the junction below. We had specifically requested a quiet room, and were initially alloted a room on level 2. We immediately asked for a room at a higher level to get away from the street noise, and were moved to the 4th floor, which was much better, and the road noise did not bother us. Unfortunately, the air conditioning unit seemed to blast the bed when on, rather than across the top of the room, and with much manipulation of the controls did not get much better. We attended a buffet dinner on the first night we stayed. This was an excellent buffet, with a vast range of dishes on offer, and a very helpful Restaurant Manager on hand to explain what was on offer and how to cook/eat it. The buffet was on the rooftop which was also very nice. The price was very reasonable and the whole experience was very enjoyable. The massage service within the hotel spa area was very reasonably priced (169,000 D - less than £6 -for a one hour full body). The pool was more of a plunge pool than anything you could actually swim in. Overall we enjoyed the stay at the Huong Sen, and would definitely use again.

Room Tip: Request a higher level room to avoid road noise, and have a better view. Room 403 was very nice. Try...

I stayed in Ho Chi Minh City for a week, and the Huong Sen provided a good homebase. The hotel has a few things going for it. First location. Smack in the center of District 1 on Dong Khoi Street, with much–the river, Ben Thanh market, Reunification Palace, the Opera House–in walking distance. I booked a deluxe room and had a corner wrap around balcony, so in addition to being in the middle of everything, I could watch the middle of everything. The hotel also has a lovely little pool and bar on the roof. The pool was small, but clean and large enough to accommodate everyone who was there. The fitness center did need an overhaul. Not much worked, and I ended up using the fitness center at the Grand Hotel Saigon down the street.

My room was lovely, furnished in dark wood, and actually quite large. The staff was gracious and very helpful. I was visiting clothing factories in the city, and the front desk helped with phone calls and transportation arrangements.

The hotel did feel a bit overpriced. It was old, and given the brighter, four star hotels in the neighborhood, I would have expected to pay perhaps $20 less a night. But given the location, pool, and balcony, it's a good find.

Room Tip: The rooms with an outer balcony are a better bet.

We found the location great for us as it was within walking distance to many local attractions. The hotel has a great roof terrace where we enjoyed a couple of welcome cold beers on arrival after a long flight. The hours of the buffet breakfast were early but due to having flown from England we were up with the larks anyway. There was a fair selection of Asian and western items in the buffet breakfast.
All in all it was great for our two night stop over in Ho Chi Minh city.

This is a reasonable 3 star hotel conveniently situated in HCMC (Saigon) and within walking distance of many attractions such as Ben Thanh market (10mins) and Reunification Palace (20mins). My feeling is it caters more for the Asian and local client rather than Euro/US customers. For instance the room only has green tea leaves, no coffee, milk sugar etc. The minibar also is not refreshed unless requested. The en suite had only a bath tub with an attached shower pipe and was very difficult and somewhat dangerous to use as the bath was very high to get in and out of. The shower head was attached very low on the wall and inconvenient to use. The room had AC which had not been on for some time when we checked in and the room was extreamly hot and sticky. We had to request a separate card to run it when we left the room as we were only supplied with one card key.The bed was extreamly hard and pillows uncomfortable.
The rooftop pool was small but clean and usable and the staff friendly and helpful. A nice touch was the small flower arrangement given to my wife for her birthday. The date must have been picked up when when we registered. If you do stay here make sure you go around the corner to happy hour on 23rd floor roof top bar in the Sheraton. A fantastic view of the city and two for one cocktails.

This is a decent hotel but over priced. I've been to HCMC several times and there are better places for what you pay. They list slippers, robes etc but you have to pay extra. It's big so very unpersonal with staff. On a very noisy street. Tea in room but no coffee. Pool is tiny and cloudy. Jacuzzi looked like old bath water. View from roof is nice, bed was soft and comfortable. Hard pillows. Nice TV, AC worked. Internet slow. Overall I'm not impressed. I would not come back. Also we booked through Agoda and had had to pay extra upon arriving as they said room was only for one person. So 10 extra per night. Definitely overpriced.

The friendly staff at the hotel allowed me to check in more than 2 hours early. They are friendly and helpful although a bit indiscreet.

The room is spacious and there's a quick wifi connection.

The best part is the ideal location in the heart of Saigon.
