Cafe Alex is in a quiet back street off the main drag Nguyen Thi Tap in District 7. Leafy little mini boulevard. It is open early morning till very late. Seating for 40 or so with indoor outdoor options. The latter lovely on a balmy evening.
Food is English and Vietnamese. As an earlier review said, things like bangers & mash or fish n' chips are wonderful. But the owners will mix and match to suit. So you can have baked beans on toast if you so desire. Or eggs. Etc. Good burgers too. I have not eaten VNese there, but from what I've seen the noodles look excellent.
Beer is as cold as you'll get anywhere. Prices not as cheap as in a local VNese outlet, but for foreigners quite suitable at a dollar US give or take for a variety of Tiger, Heineken, Saigon beers. Whiskey and other spirits also available.
Wednesday evenings features live music (English musicians) with a singalong if you are not embarrassed to open your tonsils.
Warm welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended. (I go there at least once a week.)
