I have stayed at Anh Minh Hotel in HCMC a few times for business. This hotel is located in District 1, right in the heart of the Japanese area of town, thus, there are quite a few Japanese folks staying here as well.
The rooms are small and have no natural light (that I've seen). The shower is usually cold (I think I've had hot water once in the times I've stayed here). On one occasion I was actually locked out of the bathroom and had to call for someone to come open it. The rooms are also pretty small. The word that comes to mind is dingy. On some occasions I've smelled cigarette smoke wafting up into my room.
Breakfast is not great. They often have a buffet with a few trays, very mediocre fare and no vegetarian options. At least you would hope a hotel like this could have a decent breakfast, but sadly, they don't. There's a room service menu but I've never been daring enough to try it. I always eat out.
They did allow for late checkout, thankfully. The desk staff are also pretty friendly. Really, the main thing this hotel has going for it is location and price. Not a place you really want to spend any time.More
