This cathedral is well-design, it was great to take a picture it along with the statue in front of this cathedral, this square is one of the most european-like atmosphere, in the right side u can see doves flying, and on the left side of this cathedral, there is a central post-office, which also has an european-like design, really good

A beautiful, quaint cathedral in the city centre, clustered close to some other attractions in Ho Chi Minh like the post office just across the road. It was a pleasant experience visiting this cathedral, no huge crowds, and as opposed to other reviewers I did not encounter many hawkers or beggars harassing me. It's a smaller and less elaborate version of the massive cathedral of the same name in Paris. I write this review right after returning from Paris and am amazed at how the buildings built during the French era in hcm is akin to its humongous counter part in Paris .. I.e the Hcm opera Hse is also a miniature version of the opera in Paris. It's a good alternative closer to home to see great French architecture.

Externally, Notre Dame is a beautiful structure and a reminder of earlier times of European occupation. Internally, I was rather disappointed, but probably because I was expecting something more like the ornate interiors seen in Europe (it didn't help not being able to understand the inscriptions within - which is my problem, not theirs!).

There is no entry fee, but check the opening times, which are pretty limited. (When we went, it was only open in the afternoon from 3-4 pm, thanks to a private service).

Rather spoilt having to run the gauntlet of hawkers and beggars when entering and exiting the building, but give it a go anyway.
