Worth a walk around. Site of important places. Conveys an impression of importance and order. Easy to survey and move around.

If you happen to be in town during the lunar new year celebration you must go here as the whole street is filled with decorations all covered with flowers they are beautiful. Great french architecture on some of the buildings, of course shopping but it's pretty standard like other big cities.

It is so relaxing, shady with lots of beautiful sculptured trees, flowering plants in the square that takes you away from the busy
streets full of motorcyles and traffic.

Sorry that I can't romanticize about the small park like some others. It's a photo opp and a bit of pleasant greenery to rest your weary feet a spell. The old Hotel de Ville (current People's Committee building) is attractive particularly when lit at night but inaccessible. Uncle Ho's statue is a centerpiece but where isn't it? Had the Rex Hotel not sold out its soul and ground floor to retail and maintained some of its original historical charm like the Hotel Continental it might have contributed much more to the immediate area other than just an upscale shopping mall. Still, the best photos are from its rooftop bar where journalists got the real scoop from drunken war era brass after the "five o'clock follies" press briefings in its now sterile lobby. You can catch a birdseye view of Ho and the old de Ville in the same frame. As far as area shopping, I saw nothing particularly intriguing.
If you stay in the area you'll pass by this square plenty. If you want larger green space, checkout the large, mature tree-lined park between the Reunification Palace and Notre Dame. This was a nice photo opp and not much more.

I like the place, it is air-conditioned and I am not sweating while choosing what to buy unlike in the Ben Than Market. If you plan your shopping, go directly to this place.. They have all goods for boys and girls, adults and for kids.
