We came here at around 8-9pm after spending the whole day go around ho chi minh, this is a great place to take pictures with your friends, the independent palace background at night was really good, so we recommend you to visit it at night, don't forget to bring your SLR, and enjoy the photo-shoot :D

It was a bit crowded when I passed by last night. Generally, people just sit their conversing with each other and drinking so nothing special.

Surrounded by elegant colonial buildings, now hosting high quality fashion stores, the square is a green space to admire the memorial to Ho Chi Minh and the People's Committee Building. Historically atmospheric as you have the Rex Hotel to the left of the statue of 'Uncle Ho' which housed the press during the Vietnamese War . The colonial buildings give an idea of the country's rich heritage and the new architecture which gazes down on the historic facades gives a vision of the new modern and dynamic Vietnam.

My friend was just staying in Rex Hotel facing this square. Out of convenience i started to take some pictures. Nice background with the People's Committee behind and most of all, the red flag above could prove you're in Vietnam. There are a handful of 'professional' photographers around waiting for tourists who need their photographic skills. Overall a very clean place. Further down the road are a few 5 Star Hotels & opposite direction will be Dong Khoi area.

Beautiful building for photographs and interesting history but for he best shots pop along at night where it looks even better and less people. Brilliant.
