“Beautifully laid out public square”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

Another worthwhile free attraction in a great city. Just around the corner from the famous and very attractive Rex Hotel and square is a great photo spot with all the usual colourful plants and trees in the inner city. The whole area around the square for several blocks makes a great walk day or night with plenty of good shopping options from the exclusive to tacky. Nice chafes on route and not a lot of hassle from the vendors trying to earn a crust.

“Nine million motorcycles”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

I was in HCMC for the Tet Festival and was there quite a few times. The place was very lively at night and the the street lighting decorations were just beautiful. The garden just in front of the City Hall is well maintained and the flowers very colorful. The buildings (hotels, Opera) in the surroundings are a showcase of French architecture (Is it French architecture? I am not an expert in the field !).

But I did not like the noise and hassle caused by the high number of motorcycles. It was very difficult to cross the streets and nobody seemed to be conversant with traffic rules there. But this is HCMC and it reminded me of Katie Melua's song "Nine million bicycles". Are there nine million motorcycles in HCMC ?

“A little oasis in the city”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

This square is located in front of the town hall and provides lovely scenery for photographs. We came across this on our city walking tour and although not big, it still worth seeing with its sculptured plantings and flower pots. You wouldn't spend a lot of time here, but if you're nearby, pop by for a look.
