Owner description: This fascinating government building, significant for its role in the Vietnam conflict, is preserved almost exactly as it was in 1966.

This attraction like many of the other attractions in Saigon, has fixed opening hours. In between lunch, from 12-2pm, the place is closed. Around the perimeter, there will be some coconut vendors, who will offer you a chance to take photo with their makeshift coconut stall, and then subsequently open a few coconuts and charge you an outrageous price for them.

There is a free tour within the palace and normally it takes place every half an hour. The tour guide will bring you through the palace and explain the significance of the different rooms and the history. For me, the nicest part would be at the underground bunker, and watching the movie clip at the end of the tour. The entire walk will take about an hour.

Incredible to be able to walk inside a palace that is now imbedded in history. You can see the meeting rooms, bedrooms and dining areas as well as the top floor which would have seen many dignitries enjoying a "nightclub" occasion.

This was a really nice your, very cheap, about 30,000 VD per person which is about $1.50 I think. They have English speaking tour guides and the tour actually contained much less propaganda than I thought it would! And the tour guides are lovely, many dressed in traditional Vietnamese au dais.

Video room at ground floor in few languages giving history.
You get to see all the rooms but can't enter except for the hall. Boring unless you like history. You can register for guided tour at counter.

The Reunification Palace was the first of 3 places we went to. Basically it is a terribly out-dated, battered shell of what it likely was back when it was actually lived in. The rooms are sparsely furnished, the carpet is tatty, and there is honestly nothing really to see. We had a tour guide which at least explained rooms to us - if we had not have had him, we would have walked in and then straight out. Nothing historical or exciting about it, I'm sorry to say.
