Owner description: This is the city's biggest, most authentic market. You can find almost anything you need here, from basic supplies to souvenirs. The food is outstanding and the people-watching is great even if you don't buy anything.

I love Ben Thanh markets. So many beautiful things, so little time and so cheap!!!! Left my husband in the hotel across the road a few times over the course of a few days. Trip booked for December 2013 and I will be going back to buy all the beautiful home wares, shoes and whatever else I can bring back over the Australian border! Weasel Coffee is a must, will definitely be attempting to get those beans and percolator across the border!

This market looks like many other markets in the region. Narrow pathways between a lot of shop-stalls. You can get everything here, but I'm not sure it's the cheapest place to get it - I am quite sure that a lot of the items that claim to be some kind of brand are copied goods.

The rats run around in the food area and lot of things you never see in western culture is going on. Animals being slaughtered for everybody to see and so forth.. It's worth a visit just for the atmosphere.

Went here in the late afternoon (closes at 6pm and then stalls set up outside). Lots tourist stalls as well as household goods, food, tshirts, clothes and shoes, jewelry, cafes etc. Bargain hard. We weren't given the hard sell though. Not full of Chinese goods (entirely so some items specific to Saigon sale). Not great for strollers as it's crowded and there are steps up and down to stalls.

Well worth a visit! Fun, need to be quite firm about saying No thank you as you will be constantly asked to buy! Always worth a try to ask for best price. Food is quick, cheap and filling! Spills out at night onto the street around. From 6p.m. see the young men racing to set up a pitch!

I have been to this Market on a few occasions, it's a good experience, and it's interesting to see the wide variety of gifts, clothing, and food. Whilst the clothing is quite high priced, I find that the food is excellent, especially for quick, street style food. It's definitely a Tourist Market, but worth a look. Don't buy anything until you ask a few other vendors to get the normal price of things in there, and beware that the sellers can be pretty intense. I find it fun though.
