“City Break on the way home”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Stopped off for two nights enroute from Paris to Sydney. Approx $1000 dollars for two night stop once you include a room, two meals and drinks so with the Vietnam visa on top may be worth paying for a better connecting airline than Vietnam Airlines.
Nice hotel And good service overall.

We stayed in the Caravelle in Saigon for 3 nights at the end of a couple of weeks touring Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. It was a great hotel to finish our holiday as we were feeling a bit tired after the heat and exposure to daily life in this interesting part of the world. The hotel is in a fabulous location that is within walking distance to many sights like the museum, palace, opera house etc. as well as good restaurants in the area. We felt very safe walking around and the Caravelle is surrounded by other nice hotels such as the Intercontinental and Park Hyatt. The staff are wonderful, very helpful, and it is a very clean well run modern hotel. Do get the breakfast included option because the breakfast is fantastic, great selection matched by high quality and quantity. One of the best buffet breakfasts I have ever had, anywhere. I counted 22 pastries alone, different selection every day! Our room was spacious with a small loveseat and sitting area and very clean and comfortable. Yes Kids, the wifi works really well. I can recommend it without reservation and would gladly stay there again. From a value and quality perspective it can't be beat. You can pay more for a hotel but don't need to.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 8th floor looking out at the Opera house.

This is my favourite 5 star hotel whenever I am in HCMC for business. It is in the District 1. It is next to the Opera House, within walking distance to Vincom Centre, Parkson, big office towers. It is also short distance away (within 3km) to Ben Thanh market, Reunification Palace, War Remants Museum, etc.

Didn't realize this when booking it but this is one of the fancier hotels in Ho Chi Min. Its not a bad thing, just thought it was funny.

The staff were very accommodation and friendly. The hotel was in a very desirable neighborhood in the center of Ho Chi Min. There is luxurious shopping as well as some great restaurants around.

The casino is a nice attraction if you get really bored.

The Caravelle is a nice hotel, it is not amazing. The staff and service are great, the location is fantastic but the rooms are a little tired. Don't get me wrong they are all perfectly clean but are in need of a bit of a revamp.

The pool area and gym are good and well equipped, and much required after a hot sticky day exploring the city. My other half tells me he also had the best foot massage of his life in the spa (I was in the gym)!

The rooftop bar is expensive but very nice with some great cocktails. The service is excellent. Clientele is a real mix of well healed locals, expats and tourists.

I would describe this hotel as a business hotel first and foremost, but we did enjoy our 3 nights there.

Room Tip: Try and get a higher floor looking over the opera house as the views are great.

I truly like this hotel.
Perfect location, you can walk around Saigon 1 if you're on a touristic trip.
The rooms are spacious and well clean, which I appreciated, and if you are facing the Opėra de Saigon you even have the sensation of being back to the colonial years (Duras anyone?).
The breakfast selection is quite consistent and the staff is helpful and attentive.
I strongly recommend this hotel also to business travelers like myself: internet connection is fast and the desk is relaxing to work at, and as I said the rooms are comfortable so you can work well even after a long day.

Room Tip: Room facing the Opėra on a higher floor.

After 28 days travelling Vietnam apart from a home stay in Sapa we rate the Caravelle at the top of the list of best places to stay. The service, staff, food, could not of wanted for anything more. The rooms, pool, all spotless. Thank you Caravelle.
