This is a fine hotel in a great location. I paid around $140 for a city view room (stunning view especially at night) which included breakfast. The rooftop pool is a good place to escape the chaos of HCMC and the adjacent gym is first rate. The breakfast buffet is something else and is enough reason alone to stay here - the choice of food is overwhelming but the quality is excellent. The bar on the 9th floor is a bit cheesy but worth a look to enjoy the colonial style and the views of the city. All the staff I encountered were great and overall the service and experience was faultless.

A true 5 star hotel that caters for everyone's needs. Superb experience and right in the heart of all that is happening in Saigon.

The best rooftop bar in the city and all the other facilities excellent.

Staff were great and the hotel car pick up at the airport the best way to arrive into a city that is a sprawling mass of motorcycles and cars.

Unbelievable value for money we will be back staying there again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the Opera House

We stayed here for 2 nights in January before a week long cruise along Mekong River. It was very clean, we had a large bedroom with 2 (almost) double beds. Great views over cathedral . Breakfast was included in our rate and was first class with everything you could imagine in the buffet. We ate in one evening, again starter was buffet with loads of really fresh seafood - so fresh the crabs were still alive! Good rooftop bar that had a lively atmosphere . Also worth a visit is Rex hotel bar just down the road. Both hotels have a history.

Room Tip: We were on 17th floor and had good views. Lifts were good.

Great room great service. Stayed on executive floor free drinks and food early evening well worth the extra money. Great staff and service.

Restaurant op class and the bar on the rooftop (Saigon,Saigon) is a lot of fun with live music.

Room Tip: Stay on the executive floor if funds allow

Just spent one night at the Caravelle as a treat. Got a very nice rate as a Tet special. The food at the lunch buffet was really fresh, tasty, varied and well presented. The staff at every level were very attentive and friendly. The pool was cool, relaxing and also well staffed. The spa sure looked nice, but we did not use it. The hotel's location is perfect, right in the hub of upscale shopping and nice restaurants. Just a short walk to the museums and cathedral. We'd love to go back!

We booked 7 nights in a signature deluxe room with club access. Overall we enjoyed our stay; however there were elements that we struggled with that just should not happen with a 5 star hotel. This hotel is in a top location and is its best selling point.

We booked the hotel limo to pick us up from the airport, it was great to be greeted by a pleasant young lady who took us to our waiting Mercedes e class. HCMC domestic airport was the quickest we have ever in the world collected our bags 5 mins! Good job!

Arriving at the hotel we were whisked away to our room to check in, odd that they didn't check us in at the signature lounge like most hotels would. Our requests in our booking were totally ignored we asked for a quiet location on a high floor, we were the first room from the lift next to the cleaners store room. Soon after we checked in we went to the club lounge and requested to be moved, we were moved to a great room in a very quiet location in the original part of the hotel. Thanks to the lady behind the front desk in the club lounge who assisted us in moving, it made a huge different to our stay at the Caravelle.

SIGNATURE CLUB LOUNGE:
It is a very comfortable club lounge, with a great selection of food.

Omelettes at breakfast were good and they had baked beans so i was happy! They only had pancakes one day we were there, my partner was not happy! ;-)

Evening food and drinks: (I won't call it cocktail hour as there are no cocktails) 5.30 to 8pm, however food stops at 7.30pm & drinks go to 8pm not really sure the motive behind this - weird. Mind you the ladies in the club start packing things up from 15mins before food service finishes, this is so unwelcoming! They do the same at breakfast.

We found the staff walking the floor in the club lounge, very unhelpful and not happy or friendly people and they were not attentive at all. It seemed like we were an interruption to their day, on many occasions we had to go into the little room with the computers to ask for a drink, while they gathered in there to chat and surf the internet. On several occasions we also seen staff walk past the food station and put rolls and food in their pockets, surely an establishment like the Caravelle feeds them!

They need regular visits from western manager, we seen him once during our 7 night stay and boy did they soon change their attitude while his presence was there!

The pool was good, in fact the staff were more attentive and friendly there than in the signature club.
Concierge were mostly helpful when asking for local assistance, however there where several men there who had very poor English.

We met Nuhm at the festivities table to book our family for Xmas dinner, what a helpful, happy young lady who assisted us several times during our stay, its someone like Nuhm you need in you’re so called ‘signature’ club lounge!

The Christmas spread that was put on at nineteen restaurant was out of this world, free flow martini’s and margaritas along with beer, wine and soft drink. The choice of food, music and the presence of santa all contributed to a fantastic xmas – our family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our night.

Leaving HCM Airport:
You are not required to pay a departure tax it's included in your air ticket. Customs officers play games (why? Cause they can, then act dumb) We were queued at immigration and I got eye contact with the guy behind the counter and he told me to go to another queue which was way longer, i also seen it happen to another lady in the queue next to me. When I moved to the next queue I didn't look at the bloke till i got to the counter in case I got told to move again. From HCMC district one to airport no more than 200,000D and took about 35 mins.

We stayed two nights at this hotel as part of a tour package. It's a very comfortable if rather impersonal hotel but we expected that when staying somewhere so large.

The breakfast buffet is just incredible - there is just so much choice and it changes slightly daily. Really friendly and attentive staff keep coming round to fill your tea/coffee cup which is great and nothing is too much trouble. We had a snack in the downstairs bar which was fine and we also had a drink each evening at the roof top bar. Very atmospheric and terrific views, although could have done without the live music. There is a very nice pool which is worth visiting, even if all you do is relax and have a drink. The spa is overpriced so don't bother with that facility and use better value places outside instead.

The location of this hotel is another strength. So many sights in walking distance and also an amazing choice of restaurants. We dined at Hua Tuc which is one of several restaurants situated in an off road court yard about 5 mins walk away and easy to miss. Really great Vietnamese meal and clearly popular - highly recommended.

Take care with your belongings in HCMC. Sadly there is a big wave of bag snatching going on, with (smart dressed) motorbike riders grabbing your bag and before you know what has happened they are gone. One of our tour group had a terrible exerience and even the hotel guys kept warning us not to carry large bags or valuables when walking around.
