I booked this hotel after spending a great deal of time reading the reviews here. I weighed the pros and cons of location vs. price vs. amenities between this hotel and The Sheraton. In the end, I went ahead and booked directly for a "River View" room (which I didn't get but we did get a nice poolside view) at this location. While yes, it is a bit of a walk to a couple primary streets (Dong Khoi) as a whole I was very pleased with the size of the room, the comfort of the beds (Vietnam likes box springs as mattresses) and most importantly, free WiFi in the room! Which meant, I could Skype back home to my family of three small children and not miss them so much! Also, the buffet is fabulous for breakfast. Great selection! The pool was beautiful (although I didn't go in) and HUGE! The doormen were extremely attentive and the staff friendly. Yes, it is an "older" hotel but you can't really tell unless you're trying to book The Hyatt and want super modern. It's a hotel, just like a Marriott or anything else. It was worth the price one you consider that WiFi at the Sheraton is $17/day and you have to pay for breakfast. So if you think about what you'd spend for the breakfast buffet and WiFi, the extra cost is comparable. You could stay at the Bong Sen for $99 but the rooms aren't nearly as comfortable, beds hard and buffet lacking. So I really liked this hotel. I stayed at the Sheraton the last night in HCMC (a week later) because we had points and it was a beautiful room (very large) but very costly when you add up all the amenities. Although, the location of that hotel was very good. It's an apples and oranges kind of choice. You sacrifice something everywhere. But we enjoyed our stay at The Legend and I'd recommend it to anyone going over that wants to "check in" back home or what have you...

Very nice hotel at the river, walking distance from the center. Great service. Rooms very nice with everything that you expect at a 5 star hotel. The pool is fanatstic, much needed in the heath of saigon. Be careful that the hotel is expensive with transfers to the airport, better take a taxi.

The rooms are a bit dated and the location was unfortunately a bit off the main center which made it actually inconvenient to get to and from the hotel. The service was good by Vietnam standards. the best part of the hotel is the Chinese restaurant which serves very authentic Cantonese food. overall we would go back for the restaurant bur nit for the rooms.

This is my 5th night in this hotel. Moving north tomorrow. I'm a mid range traveller so this was an affordable splurge to start off a 7 week trip in Indochina. I really wanted a nice pool given the intense heat (36+C) at this time of year and a decent one is hard to find in Saigon at the mid range price point. The large circular pool would be hard to beat. It is spacious with lots of comfy lounge chairs both in the shade and in the sun and is surrounded great tropical vegetation.

The hotel is lovely, a little old fashioned in style but the beds are extremely comfortable. I have a room overlooking the Saigon River. Try for one of these. The included breakfast buffet has everything for asian and western tastes. Wifi is included with the room rate.

Nicely discounted rates are out there. Do some looking around on line before booking.

We stayed here for 2 nights on the 11th to 13th March.

The staff really go out of their way to help... they even hired a motorbike for us and had it delivered to the hotel so we could pick it up and drop it off there. We had a river view room with beautiful views of the Saigon river, the room was simple but the bed was so heavenly and comfortable. Also the electric toilet is a bonus.

The pool area was open and pleasant and the perfect place to escape the hot humid afternoons. I would not hesitate to go back the next time I'm visiting HCMC.

The luxury here seems out of keeping with the rest of the city but after 2 weeks of basic travel it was a wonderful experience. There are staff falling over themselves to assist with everything - as if I couldn't push the lift button myself! At breakfast I thought I had died and gone to heaven, and with 4 or 5 platefuls in my stomach it was harder to walk to the attractions of the city. From here we walked everywhere, no transport necessary. Very pleasant pool with loungers and more service.
