The Duxton was the first hotel on our Vietnam tour; stayed there 3 nights and enjoyed our restful visit. Our room was quiet, comfortable and large. One suggestion would be for the housekeeping supervisor to check that carpets are thoroughly vacuumed, including under the bed, on and around the baseboards and edges - slightly discomforting that these weren't kept in immaculate condition, particularly in a very warm, humid climate - thus preventing bugs, mold, etc! Not that we found any, but... Breakfasts very enjoyable, great selection. Breakfast room closely scrutinized by supervisory staff to ensure standards upheld: options replenished, food kept fresh, tables cleared etc. Lovely lobby, 3rd floor rooftop pool and sunbeds a welcome oasis after a warm day's sightseeing. Good central location to sites, shops and restaurants. Plenty of police and security personnel on main streets after dark to help tourists cross busy roads and to ensure no hassle etc.

One of the best hotels in one of the best locations in HCMC. 300m to the river area for dinner cruises, left out of the hotel, and left at the first street, takes you straight to the Bien Thanh Market. Plenty of places to eat (Pho24 is just around the corner) not far from the opera house, post office, St Pauls and more. Great service from the staff and one of the best breakfast buffets around. Thoroughly enjoyed this hotel, where nothing was too much trouble for the staff. watch out for the motorbike touts on the street outside the hotel, and for the pickpockets near the dinner cruises on busy nights.

Room Tip: Doesnt really matter, but a room on the 3rd or 4th floor on the main street side will give you a gre...

My wife and I stayed at the Duxton for two nights at the end of a 15-day Vietnam trip. Duxton is conveniently located, the rooms are ok, and there is even a small pool and a gym, so I would have rated it 4 star.
Arriving very early, our luggage was stored. Out of all things, the traditional Vietnam conical hat of my wife disappeared (the real deal, from Hué) from their storage. When we enquired, they told us that they'll search for it and call us later, which did indeed happen: "Hello, front desk here, hat not found, sorry" and hung up. I couldn't say a word, no was there any intention to resolve this issue.
For HCMC, hotels like Caravelle and New World seemed like nice options, we had drinks at the first on their roof terrace and went to the Saturday Saigon Soul Pool Party at the latter. Both places very friendly...

Small thing on the side: don't get a sudden craving for a snack at the Duxton: 80k Dong (3,75 USD) for a Snickers candy bar from the minibar is outrageous, the store below asks for a fifth of that price.

Clean room with a spacious bathroom. There are nice restaurants and shops nearby. Ben Thanh market is about 15 minutes away on foot. Had a full-day event happening and we occupied several function rooms, which were spacious and the staff attending to us were attentive and helpful. Downside: they were not willing to accommodate any request for late check-out. The diverter in the shower was faulty, my room-mate and I encountered tricky moments whilst in the shower.

A very impressive marble staircase leads to the spacious reception area. This hotel was pre-booked by our tour company and the rooms booked were very standard. They were kept very clean and the 'turn down' service each evening was excellent, we able to top up the tea and coffee tray and have more water. One evening our lights fused and almost before we put our phone down there was someone at the door to fix them.
The only meals we had at the hotel were breakfasts and we had no complaints. There was plenty of choice and freshly made omelettes, fried and scrambled eggs made to order.
The hotel is in a good location with a good choice of bars, restaurants and shops nearby. Don't miss a walk to the market!

Stayed at this hotel for three nights during our trip to Vietnam. It was a great location.....near the river, shops and restaurants. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough for us.We did not use the swimming pool but I did spend some time in the Spa having a manicure, pedicure and, ,after a day`s sightseeing, a very much needed leg massage.

I stayed at the Duxton for 2 nights for a business trip (my company booked this hotel). I found the hotel is not as good as it could be, it’s in a very good location which is its selling point for my company being close to the office but it needs an upgrade in the rooms. In particular I found the linen on the bed to be old and stained and just not feel like I was sleeping in a clean fresh bed. I also found the hotel airport collection and drop off to be very expensive and while talking about expensive $12 for a bottle of water at the bar is clear rip off.
The breakfast has the potential to be good but there is not enough food and is not being replaced often enough which was frustrating for many people. All things considered, if you need to be in this area then there are multiple options so I would look elsewhere next time until I see some reviews stating something different.
