“lovely hotel, great staff, central location, would recommend”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a multi centre tour of Vietnam.

When we arrived our room was not quite ready which was a pain as we had just had a 16 hour journey and all we wanted to do was shower and rest.

However, we were offered a room upgrade to an executive room on the top floors which we accepted although this was at an additional cost to us. We were shown to the executive lounge where we were given complimentary drinks whilst our room was being prepared.

After a short time, we were shown to our room. The room was nice and comfortable and the view over the street was lovely seeing the hustle and bustle.

The hotel has a built in water filter therefore the water in the taps are safe to drink. Which is a luxury in Vietnam.

The hotel and room was spotlessly clean and the staff could not do enough to help. They obviously enjoy their jobs and that shows in the customer service.

The executive lounge was a gift we enjoyed afternoon team which was amazing and they have a members only free bar during certain hours of the evening. Good decent wine and spirits available. We noticed that some people commented that the upgrade to executive was not worth it but we completely disagree as we could have breakfast there as well as snacks and nibbles throughout the day. The staff were also very attentive. This is a great place for pre dinner or pre evening drinks all complimentary.

The Wi-fi was excellent and we had no problems with the connection.

The breakfast was very varied but as with all big buffet places some mornings it was a struggle to keep the food piping hot. The eggs were lovely and freshly cooked to order. The Vietnamese breakfast was also yummy. We regret we did not try the lunch or evening menu.

The hotel was centrally located and only a short walk from everywhere, it takes more time to avoid the scooters (ha ha)

Another convenience to us Brits was the plugs were mostly 3 pin although the hotel would also supply travel adapters if needed.

The swimming pool was OK its small for the size of the hotel but as with the rest of the hotel was spotlessly clean.

Would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: upgrade to the executives floors as the lounge is worth the extra money.

Stayed here for 6 nights and hotel was better than we expected. Location was great with easy access to resturants and local sights. We were not given a great room to start with - view of a derelict building and small bed. We managed to change to a much better room with view of the river and street and a much bigger bed. Room was well equipped, good WiFi throughout. Breakfast was very good. Staff were great, very freindly. Pool although very small was useful with a great view of the tower next door

Absolutely amazing breakfast buffet all you could wish for. Goid clean rooms and centrally located. Shower over the bath with a curtain is a bit old fashioned but that's my only niggle. Helpful staff and perfect for our group

Nice staff, nice rooms, excellent location in the middle of HCM and only 15-20 minutes away from the airport.
They are baby friendly with baby bed.
Breakfast is good although quite expensive compared to the room rate, I recommend their waffles.

We stayed for only 2 nights in Ho Chi Minh City and couldn't ask for a better hotel. It was perfect for our needs for such a short stay - location was ideal to reach markets, museums, sightseeing areas of interest. Our family of 5 stayed in inter-connecting rooms and utilised the restaurant only for breakfasts. The pool is quite small but was sufficient for our needs. If we were staying longer I think I'd prefer a bigger pool area, but for our trip the Duxton was perfect.

Beautiful hotel that is centrally located. It was within easy walking distance to markets, post office and opera house which were meeting points for our tours, palace and the many restaurants etc. Rooms cleaned twice daily with a new water bottle given each time and the staff were always courteous and helpful. The breakfast had a good variety of both Western and Asian food to eat. We never went hungry.

This hotel is close to the river and a 5 minute walk from many places to eat and shop. The buffet breakfast is included and quite filling although getting a second cup of tea can be a challenge on a busy day. The restaurant serves western and eastern meals, and the salmon is good value. House wine is the same price as in Melbourne and is the only type available by the glass. Housekeeping seems to come more than once a day so always put your valuables away whenever you leave the room. You get a discount voucher to use the spa facilities. Its very comfortable and clean and seemed popular with couples, families and corporates.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have no view.
