Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers
Ranked #29 of 472 Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 1, 2012

We returned from HCMC from a 3 day sightseeing visit and stayed at the Sheraton in early December. The overall stay was very enjoyable and the hotel was a good example of a well run place with very helpful staff well trained to deliver excellent customer service.

We arrived well past midnight and were booked for a standard room in the "old" tower. With all the opinions written about the old tower, we inquired about the grand tower which they offered for an additional $75, but included free breakfast buffet, internet and access to the 23rd floor bar (roughly worth <$70) probably a fair deal but we decided not to take it. They instead gave us an "upgraded" room in the old tower.

The room we had (on the 18th floor) must have been a remodeled one since this room was very, very well appointed and had modern amenities. Flat panel TV, separate shower (with 3 shower heads) and tub, powered drapes, etc. The room itself was HUGE, easily 1 1/2 times larger than a standard hotel room. The hallways are also very decent, certainly not new, but not worn out either, certainly good for another 5++ years of service. I guess I'm not exactly sure what the other people are talking about when they describe the old tower needing an upgrade.

They provide free bottles of Aquafina water in the room but you have to pay if you want Evian. Their breakfast buffet was great and had an extensive menu (more like a brunch with all their offerings) but quite overpriced at $24. Interesting that you can order a 3 egg omelet (ala cart) for less than $6 and have a decent and filling breakfast for less than $10 in the same restaurant. Other ala care offerings were in the same price range.

Internet is pricey at about $18/day. However free and open internet is available in the lobby, coffee shops and restaurants (just ask for the login and password). There is also a business center with about 6 computers just in the far corner of the lobby area.

This place appears to cater to international business people and less to tourist although there is a SaigonTours desk at the lobby which we availed of our tour requirements.

We had a late departure on our last day. Being a Starwood rewards member they gave us a late checkout at 2PM. They also offered access (open till 10PM) to the fitness center where I was able to do a quick shower before we headed for the airport.

You cannot pick a better location for this hotel, right in the middle of the tourist area with all the high end retailers all around. Lots of various restaurants, shops and coffee shops all within a 2-3 block circle. The Saigon river is just a few minutes walk as well.

Overall this was a great place to stay, great service, great location.

Stayed here in early December 2011 and was mildly disappointed with the decor and general atmosphere. Had a suite in the Grand Tower on the 24th floor with access to the club lounge and whilst the hotel is in a very good location there was nothing about it that made you think you were in a five star establishment except the service which was good. If we had been on business we would have been impressed with the efficiency of the place but apart from that it was generally dull.

Room Tip: At a guess I would say all the rooms are the same so don't waste too much time in choosing just...

More expensive than a lot of other hotels in Saigon but you will definitely find the level of service and comfort that I have come to expect in SPG properties around the world. I stayed in both a regular room (clean and nice) and a Tower's room (excellent), and the tower room is worth the upgrade. The Tower's lounge serves enough variety during the evening buffet to make a full meal, in fact the selection was larger than similar Sheratons. The room was exceptional and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I thorougly enjoyed the trip and will stay there again when I travel to Saigon in the future.

Fantastic as a business hotel especially with the convenience of food places surrounding the hotel giving one alternatives to the hotel food, and fantastic for couple vacations too. The breakfast spread was highly commendable.
Definitely recommend this!

We stayed at the Club Level. It was $300+ night, but considering that the wonderful breakfast buffet, afternoon tea, and pre-dinner happy hour (which was from 5-8pm and included a full bar, sushi, pho, desserts, etc.) were included, it actually was a good value. The room was beautiful and roomy. Free wifi everywhere except in room ($20 day). The $50 hotel limo from airport was pricy but gave us piece of mind. And the turndown service included little desserts.

The Sheraton in Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon if you prefer has been around for some time and may be seen as a tired and dated hotel. It's major plus is the location which is faultless as it sits right along the famous Dong Khoi Street (known as Rue Catinat during the French Indochina era). A historic street on its own right, the hotel is minutes away on foot from key sights such as the Opera House, Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon Post Office, Reunification Palace and countless shops and restaurants.

Having been to Saigon a number of times and having stayed at the same Sheraton before (and being disappointed with the regular hotel rooms), we decided to try the Grand Tower club floor rooms this time round. This was a wise choice as the rooms are fantastic - Having previously been serviced apartments and recently refurbished, these rooms are large and well appointed with a great comfortable bed. The club lounge is on the 5th floor with a very good selection of food and beverages which is of very high quality throughout the day. Check-in is done at the club lounge and you get a very nice welcome gift on arrival (there is a nice selection to choose from - silk scarves, traditional lacquer boxes, voucher for the spa, bottle of wine and even a plush Sheraton Teddy Bear!). The staff here are excellent - friendly and professional, always on hand without being obtrusive. The slight drawback is the insulation to the windows could have probably been better as you can still hear (albeit faintly) the constant sound of traffic noise and motorbikes and cars blaring their horns at ground level - however, this is the issue in most of the hotels in Saigon anyway. So be forewarned - those who are extremely light sleepers, stay away from the lower floors!

As a regular Starwood Guest, I never really rated this property highly until now. To experience what is top notch in Saigon - go with the Grand Tower Club rooms.

Room Tip: Try to get a high floor - away from the constant noise in Saigon.

I have stayed at this hotel twice and both times they upgraded me to a suite at no charge. The first time a two bedroom and this time a one bedroom.
The rooms are great, electronic controls for curtains, lights alarm etc right by the bed are a great feature.
the airport pickup and drop off is with a decent BMW for a comfortable ride.
They even let me smoke a cigar in the club lounge even though I didn't pay for access!
I will be back!
