I have booked twice before and finally I managed to confirm my stay at Rex. Honestly I was given competitive rates elsewhere but wanted to check out Rex' services. The team did their best to make my stay with my spouse a pleasant one. Hotel is quiet. Its slogan at the reception says it all. It is a classy place for a peaceful stay.

Room Tip: Ask for the new wing premium rooms

Stayed 5 nights at the Rex. Stayed in a Govenors suite in the west Wing which was really nice for a business trip. Room was spacious, bed comfortable, and was generally quiet. Buffet breakfast was very good. Rooftop swimming pool was also nice.

I had stayed on the east wing before and found the west wing much nicer and worth the extra money per night.

Location: stone's throw away from some of the tourist attractions in the city.
Breakfast buffet: food is not bad. location is superb. talking about a morning dose of Vit. D :-) love the morning sun while having breakfast.
Room: nothing to complain much except for the noise coming from the passers by at the corridor
Hotel building is majestic. very classy.
TIP: you can easily ask for the hotel's business card at the front desk and flash it on your way back to the cab driver. no more discussions.

We came to Saigon in Dec 2010 and work was still underway on the Rex. When the opportunity festaurant on our first nightcame to return and our itinerary included the Rex, we were delighted.
Possibly its best feature is its superlative location, not just just position but the fact that it sits astride a number of key streets that make it easy to navigate to and from.
Service was exemplary at every pot of contact.
Rooms are large and well appointed. Bathroom likewise. Beds comfortable the only short-coming, no top sheet, resolved by using the quilt cover. Aircon good and very necessary for soft Aussies after a day’s walking and seeing the nearby sights.

Food was also of the standard expected of a hotel of this class. Breakfasts served on the ground floor due to works on the 5th although we did have dinner in the 5th floor restaurant on our first night before the works got under way.

There is a new shopping mall opposite and a supermarket is located on the first floor of the building on the opposite corner as you turn right from the entrance.

I think travellers are spoilt for choice with hotels in Saigon, and the Rex is right up there with the best.

Having read reviews mentioning the current renovation noise, it was with some trepidation that we booked the Rex. We actually decided on this hotel largely due to the great location, the pools and fitness centre. Our first night in Saigon was in a suite below the rooftop garden (on the floor above) and this was quite noisy, nothing to do with renovations. A 'softer; floor is being installed which should alleviate the problem. As soon as we spoke to reception regarding the noise we were moved, no question, to a quieter room on the 3rd floor. Our bags were transferred to the room along with a lovely plate of chocolates and a letter of apology. All handled very professionally and with no fuss.

The hotel boasts lovely light large rooms in a sensational location, a superb fitness centre, two large pools and is very difficult to fault. The rooftop garden bar is well worth a night out. Staff are excellent in every respect and the breakfast were superior to any experienced in Vietnam. The breakfast dining room manager recommended the Saigon Optics Centre close by, (as I wanted to buy new glasses) and then rang them, supplied a map and wrote it down in Vietnamese for the taxi. This summed up the staff here, friendly and very interested in ensuring the Rex and Ho Chi Minh are a very positive experience.
This is a great hotel and you will not regret making it your home in Saigon.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet floor not directly below the bar (which is a bit noisy but not unbearable.) Ask for...

We stayed at this hotel during March for three nights. I was a little sceptical booking this hotel but I was pleasantly surprised.
It was an older properly but it had such character! It was in a perfect location, right in the heat of the city. It had a fantastic roof top bar where most nights they would have live entertainment. The dinners were average but breakfast were fine, you can certainly get much better food at he local restaurants around the corner.
Some of the rooms have been refurbished, ours was clean and comfortable although the bathroom was a bit small. There were some construction works going on while were were staying. One night at 8pm we did have to call reception to get them to stop because of the noise.
All in all we loved it. We would defiantly stay again.
