The Rex is in the midst of a much needed re futbish so the special room rates are very very good value.
The only downsides were the noise from street level and expensive beverage prices.
They were very Nosy rooms!
The food was really good and plenty of it.

The Rex hotel may seem a bit old and drab but it has its charms and the location is quite good.

The rooms were tidy albeit smallish but well appointed nonetheless.

The service at this hotel was very good and staff were very polite and helpful.

The food at the Rex was quite good! There is a great selection and the items are very fresh as is the case with most Vietnamese cuisine.

The highlight is the bar on top which is quite cool at night and a great spot to have a cold drink and enjoy some of the singers.

There is also some high end shopping on the ground floor of the Rex and this is the case with the mall across the street too. There is a cheaper mall just a few mins walk down as well.

The night markets are not too far from the Rex either and offer some interesting shopping as well as some outdoor dinning which is packed with tourists and locals alike.

Room Tip: Check out the rooftop for some entertainment!

We were picked up at the airport and whisked off to the Rex. We stayed in the new wing in a Governor's suite. It was very spacious and well decorated with a lovely view towards the Hotel de Ville. It was surprisingly quiet given the traffic outside. They must have double glazing as we did not hear it although we did hear the brass band that played at 7 am in the park opposite!

The location of this hotel is fantastic and it is nice to stay somewhere with a sense of history. The roof top bar had been renovated since we were last there in 1996 and you can no longer see the river but that is not the hotel's fault. It was a fun place to spend our first evening in Vietnam. The breakfast the next day was great although the location of the egg and noodle stations was not obvious unless you came in via the roof top bar which we did not. The tour that we arranged through the hotel was very good. The staff were great and spoke good English. We would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms in the new wing are far better than those in the old wing judging by the comments of other tra...

We loved this hotel with its central location and pervading sense of history. We had a large suite which was just perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids. The kids used the pool and we had a drink on the rooftop bar which was very atmospheric. We ate here one evening and although it is very expensive by Vietnamese standards the food was of a good quality and the kids were grateful for something more familiar for a change as they had been trying a lot of new foods! This hotel is not particularly grand in decor or style but it was exactly what we needed and I would recommend it.

Room Tip: The Rex Suite was very spacious and comfortable for a family of 4.

I have already stayed in this a lot of times. Like this hotel very much! Located close to different sites of Saigon and malls. It is a real center of the city. Service is high quality. Everyone speaks English fluently. Rooms are neat and tidy. Furniture is renewed. In the new wing everything is new and modern. Old wing is a bit old but,as I know, it is a policy of the hotel to keep it in old style. Breakfast a bit poor (not a big choice of dishes) but food is tasty and fresh. Gym needs to renovated but has a lot of facilities. Like its sauna. Swimming pools old but clean.

The Rex Hotel was a great introduction to our Vietnam holiday. We were greeted at the airport by a smiling man proudly holding up a sign with our names on it, and the experience just got better from there. All the staff were extremely helpful and happy, and it was a pleasure to stay in such a nice place. 5 Stars

The hotel was absolutely awesome !!! We had a Rex suite with one king and one queen bed. The room was spacious and clean with free wifi. The breakfast spread was great !!! Location is great...walking distance to major tourist attractions like the Cathedral, Ho Chi Minh museum, Opera House and Ben Than Market. There are lots of places to eat if you do not want to eat in the hotel.
