For Saigon, a high-end hotel with comfortable rooms and historic feel. Good service, no complaints, but not 5-star service by any stretch. Food is good, but not great, and somewhat expensive compared to other local higher-end restaurants. I appreciated the clean wood floors in the rooms, because hotel carpeting is gross.
A tip - if you need to do laundry - don't do it at the hotel - very expensive!
We asked the concierge for laundry service, and after declining his first suggestion of the hotel service, he gave us the name of an outside service, who picked up the laundry and returned it within hours, no problems and much, much cheaper.

paid just under us$170 through the agoda website for one night in a Rex Suite (Old Wing) which included breakfast.
I heard mixed reviews about the "old wing being run down" etc.however I did not see any signs of this at all and was quite impressed with my stay overall.

The staff very helpful which one would expect paying this sort of money for a hotel in Ho Chi Minh and my room was gigantic, just under 45 square meters with a balcony that looked straight down onto the busy roads below which is fun to look at of a morning as you wake up with a coffee in hand.

The bed was comforable and all the room fittings and features were modern including flat screen tv, free wifi, a table with 2 chairs, fridge and comfortable bathroom.

I had a great nights sleep and ordered some food of the 24 hour menu which like most hotels of this calibre no matter where you are in the world charge through the roof, i ended up paying about us$10 for a sandwhich however i knew that so am not blaming anyone except myself!

I had three guests visit me during my stay at all hours of the day and the staff did not seem to mind, were happy sending them up after a simple phone call to my room.

The breakfast was like most hotel breakfasts in this price range, huge, enjoyable and a mix of both vietnamese and international options.

I would definately stay in this hotel again given the awesome roof top pool and bar and check out of mid day, all located in the heart of town

Room Tip: Double check it includes breakfast and a window!

The Rex is a classic, good pool, great bar, smart rooms and swish shopping downstairs. The staff are exceptional and there is little to complain about - unless you start comparing the price of beer at the rooftop bar with the price at local restaurants. (which is not really appropriate as you are buying the ambience).

After 10 days staying at the Rex this month I have to say I am very impressed by its consistency and quality - they do a really good job.

We stayed here for two nights as part of our honeymoon. Rooms are clean and comfy. A bit dated and small though and bathrooms adequate too. Wonderful rooftop bar and two rooftop pools. Staff and food all excellent and good central location.

Fun to stay in this classic hotel with a lot of history. It's been recently renovated and feels like it's lost some of it's "classic" feel, but still hard to beat the location. Decent food. Staff and service decent enough to make it worthwhile.

We booked a base level room in the old section of the hotel and were upgraded 2 room levels. At check in we were offered an upgrade for $50/night into the new section but declined. I would not have liked to see the original room we were booked into! It was 2 rooms and a good size, but there was no window in the bedroom and the room smelled very strongly of smoke. Given the smokey room, we were able to negotiate an upgrade to the new wing for $20/night which was well worth it. The room was large with a great view of the street below, and it was pretty quiet which surprised me. After reporting an allergy to feathers to the staff, the pillows and duvet were changed quickly with no fuss.
Breakfast was very good with many options, both Asian and Western. There are also 2 pools- the lower level pool had loads of chlorine and was a little newer than the upper level pool which was a bit quieter. There weren't enough sunbeds though and not a great deal of shade as both were roof top pools.

Quite nice, I would consider staying here again.

Room Tip: The rooms in the old section are pretty poor, but an upgrade can be negotiated

I visited the Rex Hotel for 3 nights whilst on holiday and Vietnam and the hotel was excellent given that it is one of the cheaper top end hotels in HCMC. It has a great location within walking distance of all the main attractions and the staff were very friendly and could not have been more helpful. The rooms were very clean and had everything one would expect and the gym and rooftop swimming pools are of a far higher standard than a lot of the more expensive business hotels i have stayed in.

The added bonus is a lively rooftop bar with great views of the city which makes it a perfect place to enjoy a few beers after surviving the traffic of the city at the end of the day.

The only slight negative was the price of the tours offered by the inhouse tour desk. - they are very expensive so if you walk the 15 mins down to Pham Ngu Lao (the backpacking area) so can get the same tours to the Mekong Delta and the Cu Chi tunners with the same itinery for 7 - 15 USD as opposed to the 130 - 140 plus USD the hotel tour desk wanted to charge.

All in all an exellent hotel and would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit this amazing city.
