It have very well maintenance and the staff are very polite.

The breakfast is great and many choices.
The room condition is very clean and the design is impressive especially the bad room.

The Majestic Hotel was just great, staffs were very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel was very colonial in French style, it was just a beautiful hotel, the rooms were large and clean. Good location, within walking distance from shops and attractions. We had a good view of the Saigon River from our room balcony. Ho Chi Minh City is just a beautiful city so historic, will definitely go back and stay at the Majestic again. The Buffet dinner was good with a large variety of sea food
and the breakfast buffet was just as good.

The Majestic is like a grand old lady, and she has never disappointed in my 3 visits over the last few years. We took advantage of the free upgrade to a suite offered on their website, and were delighted with the beautiful wood-panelled rooms and peaceful atmosphere. We spent our days and nights exploring this manic city, and enjoyed both the amazing buffet dinner and then watching the crazy traffic from the rooftop bar. Great location for exploring the city on foot.

The Majestic is still recognizable as a fine French Colonial building; it has been witness to so many historic events, dating from the early 20th century. Situated at a busy intersection between the main road that runs along the Mekong river and Dong Khoi, which is a major artery running up from the river to the cathedral and containing many upmarket shops, it dominates the riverfront. The ambience is still one of elegance, and grace, and the rooms are beautifully appointed (we stayed in several of them). The staff are charming and attentive. Whilst the location is excellent for access to Saigon’s main attractions, do bear in mind the incredible noise of the 4 million scooters in this city. The insomniacs of Saigon ride all night, and it is difficult to sleep if you have a room overlooking the main roads. Try and get a poolside room if you can. On the 8th floor is a wonderful rooftop bar, which is magic in the evening as you watch the sun go down over the Mekong, listening to local bands sing their unique renditions of your US/UK classic pop. The breakfast is a fabulous experience too, with the option to eat outside on a roof terrace and a wide choice of western and eastern foods.

Room Tip: When we stayed, the work on the new extension had not yet begun. Noise from construction could be a...

A must do whilst in Ho Chi Minh City is to visit the Majestic Hotel Roof Top Bar.
Have a drink (or 2) and watch the crazy road traffic and the boats on the Saigon River.
We went back there in the evening for a wonderful buffet dinner with a great seafood selection which you can have hot or cold.
Lovely warm evenings, great views and wonderful food....who could ask for anything more.

The Majestic is almost 100 years old and is a beautiful building. Rooms are OK, though the first night we got a room where the A/C did not work and with construction next door starting at 7:30. There are major renovations under way, this is not mentioned on their web site. I have a feeling they bounced us off to a crappy room as we had a booked a special Agoda deal. When I complained the next morning, we did get another room.

Like with most Saigon Tourist hotels, service was a mixed bag. A couple of the staff were friendly and helpful, but the wait staff in particular ranged from indifferent to outright rude. Breakfast service was particularly poor, with items not being filled up or replaced.

The Majestic has beautiful Art Deco features and had been recommended by a colleague. We had a Colonial room which was beautiful, but it had a terrible view from the room window, looking into a “pit”. Fortunately having a room view was not the reason for choosing the hotel. The room was clean and everything worked. The phone was modern, but made to look like a 1920/30’s design.

As another reviewer has mentioned, there is building work taking place. This is for a new tower extension at one end of building and will last until at least 2015. Our room was at the other end of the hotel, so we didn’t get disturbed.

Breakfast is good and taken on the 5th floor. You can sit inside or out and there is a good view over the river which is a muddy colour at this time of year. We also had late evening drinks at the bar on the 8th floor which I felt were over priced – although in line with the Rex and Caravelle.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the building work
