Great pool for the heat, excellent breakfast too. Staff are all attentive and friendly. Our room was at the fromt in the old part which is much nicer that the new part.
This is a good hotel if you dont mind paying for it.

I read mixed reviews of this Hotel, but our stay was perfect.
We had a large room in the old part on the 1st Floor which shared a very big lounge with the room next door. As our friends were in the room next door this meant we could gather there for a pre dinner drink. The bedroom was large as was the bathroom and we had everything we could possible want. One night around 10.30 we were disturbed by hammering on the floor below. Upon inquiring we were immediately moved to another room two floors up until the morning. This was a renovation happening in the kitchen and only for one night. The staff couldn't have been more helpful.
The pool is on level 1 and it is a large pool with loungers around three sides.
The location of this hotel is wonderful and walking distance down to the Continental, Rex and Opera House. Great shopping near by and places to eat and drink.
We enjoyed a cocktail on the top floor of the Rex one night before heading off to dinner .
I certainly would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and

It's a nice antique hotel but that's about it as it's about a 40min walk from the main strip which was very painful the taxis are cheap but ensure you have the physical address of where you want to go otherwise you won't b going as no1 speaks English. Not the friendliest staff either! I only recommend this if you are on business and don't want to go out.

On arrival at The Grand, the receptionist did not even bother to acknowledge us, did not smile and was rude and unhelpful. Our room was at the best OK. The bed was fie and the room spacious. The bathroom was very sub standard and in dire need of renovation. A pathetic shower over the bath, cheap plastic flooring and the bath was in need of a re-grout. The hotel bar was totally of character, reminiscent of a run down 60's disco and the staff miserable. On the positive side, the breakfast room was good with pplite and helpful staff. Would I stay here again - not a chance. Would I recommend the hotel to others - not a chance. There are far better hotels in Saigon that offer a far better service and far better value for money

Traveled with a group of 13 (3 families - 6 adults + 7 kids 7yo-13yo) needed a central location with a pool to escape the heat and humidity. Fantastic location with welcoming staff, great rooms and breakfast. Walked almost everywhere, with great restaurants, bars and fashion shopping for the girls. Even has a casino for those who enjoy a punt! Used this as a base between arriving in HCMC before Mekong Delta tour and back again before embarking on the rest of the trip.
Pool was great to keep the kids busy while the adults kept the bar staff busy serving 333 for thirsty tourists!

Everything was fine until the cement trucks arrived at 2am. Big construction project, 'Times Square,' going in directly across from our third floor room. It is a 24/7 operation since cement trucks can't make it down the narrow, busy street during the day. Sounded like cement was being pumped directly into our room. Progress at site seems slow so avoid The Grand for a while.

Charming colonial hotel with great reception and decor, all staff extremely courteous and helpful. Paid extra for old wing with pool views and well worth it, large suite with 2 flat screen tv's and quiet for that end of town. Great location for shopping and sightseeing, easy to exchange money at hotel. Big disapointment was the Saturday night buffet dinner and the daily buffet breakfast, they seem to cater for the bulk tourist buses as most dishes appear to have been prepared well in advance and subsequently have lost their fresh appeal ie not crisp, too sticky or not hot enough and noodles etc too oily. I would stay there again but request a room only rate & eat cheaper & fresher around the corner.
