“RETURN TO SAIGON FOR ANZAC DAY”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

The Grand Hotel in Ho Chi Min City is centrally located and very well appointed. The rooms are spacious and clean; the staff are friendly and obliging. Breakfast was yummy with a wide choice of food and drink. My favourite bar was just across the street. It is also close to casinos and the Vung Tau ferry terminal. Shopping is a short distance away. Overall, a most enjoyable stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting good accommodation at a reasonable price.

I've stayed at Grand Hotel a total of three times now, each stay seemed to be worse than the last. As mentioned in some other reviews service is lacking, in addition there constantly seems to be problems with the property i.e. internet not working (at one point I was without internet access for 4 days), air conditioning not working throughout the building on several occasions and constant noise from construction outside the hotel as well as 'maintenance' within the building.

Breakfast is below average and as mentioned by others often finishes early (breakfast runs from 06:30 - 09:30). The standard of service from staff is just not up to scratch, reception staff are often gruff and unfriendly, if you ring to ask why your room is 29 degrees celsius despite the aircon being on high you usually get some undecipherable response and usually nothing happens.

My advice would be to stay elsewhere, there are far better hotels available for similar money. This place has a long way to go...

guests beware! the hotel are "upgrading" the area next to the pool. banging and dust all day until 5pm. Very unpleasant. also tried to have a siesta but impossible as the noise is amplified through the air ducts. suggest trying another hotel until the construction finishes.

This is a great city center hotel in the tradition of other Grand Dames in other cities but, the rooms are very modern and HUGE in addition to being very well appointed. The check-in formalities were swiftly handled and the meeting facilities were impressive. There is a lack of parking space for tour coaches in front of the hotel but this was not much of an inconvenience. When I go to Hoh Chi Minh next, I will most definitely want to stay here.

Room Tip: Some rooms are bigger than others but, equally well appointed.

I recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Saigon during my visit to Vietnam. The hotel itself was really very nice with all luxury amenities one would expect. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious, ours also had an amazing view of the city, there was a free business centre where one could use the computers, the lobby area was very comfortable, there was free wifi and the food was good. Unfortunately however we had difficulty communicating with the staff as quite a few did not speak or understand English. On two occasions we asked for very simple things (such as the opening times and addresses of specific restaurants and bars) and we were given totally wrong information. We also asked the hotel staff about information on amenities at the hotel itself and again they did not understand our simplest of questions which resulted in us not being properly informed. This however did not dampen our stay. The hotel was great and very well situated in the centre of town.

Room Tip: The higher the floors the better view of the city

The Grand Hotel lived up to its name. right from the moment we stepped in through the front doors the service was exceptional, sometime this is not possible, due to the many personnel who help run such a large organization. well the Grand can and did from the front desk, the bell boys, IT staff due to the wi-if not working they brought in a modem all within 15 minutes of checking in. The room had a view over the city and spacious suites.
The view from the 20th Floor roof bar was panoramic Of the city and the river. The gym was well appointed the pool is OK for it's size. breakfast was great and check out was done with no fuss highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Just enjoy being pampered
