Great hotel and excellent location. We stay in one of the suites and its was great. Definately pick the old wing rooms as they have more character and more of a traditional feel.
Rooms were cleaned daily and they provided free water everyday.
I was expecting it to be really noisy but we didnt really hear any noise at night.
Breakfast was pretty good with a good selection. Also stayed at the Duxton and I would much prefer the Grand.

Stayed here twice, once in August and again in October this year as was given corporate rates by our agents. 4 Star hotels but then again it's an old hotel which appeals more to the Westerners. Furniture are all very "classic" though they looked new and the design of the rooms are so 60s.....

Not worth the price of a 4 star hotels but on both trips I was there, the hotel is packed and as I have said mostly Westerners and Japanese tourists. Met several tourists from Australia and UK which have very positive reviews about the hotel. For me, would prefer one with more modernised feel and definitely more suitable for short stay.

As hotels in HCMC are getting expensive these days so this hotel is reasonably priced at USD90 for their location which is right in Dong Khoi.

The newer hotels are getting very expensive in HCMC and hence it is a matter of time before this hotel increase their price too. Business facilities wise are not good because for certain rooms, you are not able to get WiFi access which is important for business travellers and at times have to resort to using their business centre. Internet access is expensive at USD 10 per day considering free Wifi are available in many cafes in HCMC like Highland Cafe.

We stayed at this hotel earlier this month and found it to be great value for money and in a central location.
The room in the old wing was large with a KS bed and large bathroom.
There was a rooftop bar in the new wing which gave us views of the river.
Breakfast was quite good and was included in the tariff.
We loved Vietnam so much that we will ba back next year and will stay here again for sure.
Tour desk staff were helpful as well.

Had a great stay at the Grand Hotel. We stayed for 5 nights and had a twin and a triple as there were 5 ladies travelling together. Staff were helpful and friendly. Beds comfortable. Breakfast good. Construction noise across the road a bit annoying but this was not the hotels fault. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed 4 nights in October 2007 as part of a 12-day tour of Vietnam.

The Grand may possibly have been grander in the past, but now seems to have lost its glitter. Apart from the reception area, it has a generally tired and tatty appearance.

The room was OK, but the bathroom was 1970s vintage, with no instructions on how to work the shower (which we eventually figured out ourselves). The aircon lacks grunt as the room was slow to cool down. There was construction noise next door at night, but I guess that is really not the hotel's fault.

The breakfasts were mediocre in quality and quantity, the waiters need more training and at least some of them should speak English. Although breakfasts are supposed to be provided until 9am, you really need to get there before 8am as the food doesn't seem to be replenished after then. Don't bother eating any other meals there.

Laundry notified for pick up at 7am was not delivered until after 9am on 2 occasions.

Overall, it was not as good as other hotels we stayed at in Hanoi, Hue and Hoi An.

In Sept 2008 we stayed at this hotel. Overall the hotel was very good considering the cost. Breakfast was really good and our room was what we expected for a room in this hotel. However the bathroom in our superior room was disappointing. It needs to be refurbished to bring it to an acceptable standard for a 4 star hotel.

Reception staff were good and made us feel welcome

Having stayed here in 2006, we were more than happy to return. Last time we had a room on the 10th floor ( I think). This room was spacious and even though a building site was across the road, with double glazing we heard nothing unless we opened the windows.
This year we stayed in room 218, which is in the old wing. The room was very spacious (especially for Asia), new renovated with the bonus of overlooking the pool. Absolutely no complaints at all.
The check in was seamless, and we have found all the staff to be helpful and happy.
The Grand is well situated for all shopping trips with everything within walking distance.
Breakfast is very good with a wide choice of food. We always book breakfast as part of our stay, but have never had an evening meal so cannot comment on that side of things.
Overall, we have enjoyed our stays at this hotel and would recommend it for anyone to use as a base.
Good value for money.
