“Nice and close to airport”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2012

We stayed in the Moevenpick Hotel Saigon at the end of our Vietnam vacation to ensure a "stressless" travel back to the airport. The hotel is just a 10 min taxi ride from the airport.
Our room got upgraded and we had a nice room. Especially after a tour through Vietnam it was good to stay at a nice and comfortable hotel to end a vacation.
The room was perfect, however in my mind the atmoshere in the hotel is a bit "cool". The lobby reminded me more to a public building rather than a hotel.
We ate in the restaurant next to the lobby and had an excellent seafood buffet, but again there is not a warm atmosphere in the restaurant. However the food was still delicious.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Its a good hotel for a couple of days.

Room Tip: A good hotel close to the airport.

An excellent hotel. Beautifully and tastefully decorated. First rate and most professional service. Wonderful breakfast. Spacious, spotless, relaxing, and very elegant rooms. Minutes away from the airport. All was just perfect. I'll definitely go back!

stayed here for one night only on arrival in Ho Chi Minh prior to getting an internal flight the following morning.

Booked through AsiaRooms.com for bed and breakfast and got a good rate.

Car collection from airport efficient as was check in and lobby service. Room excellent and breakfast great. Staff friendly and polite.
The Slate Bar was a bit of a trek across the pool and gym area which itself was a bit tatty and looked like it could do with decorating although there were some works going on in this area.

Would stay again and was handy for the airport approx 15 mins in cab although a little far from tourist sights if you are planning to stay a few days sightseeing.

We had two nights in the Moevenpick and I didn't find anything to complain. It is exactly my understanding of a five star hotel.
We booked the executive package which I really recommend. For a good price you have a nice big room and access to the executive club lounge where you are checked in and out and where you can have breakfast with a bit more privacy compared to the restaurant, and also you can have snacks and drinks there in the afternoon.
Service is outstanding, this hotel is perfect. You step inside and all the busy and noisy Saigon vibration stops immediately and you are in the cosy megabubble. The beds are a dream. In 3 weeks Vietnam I never had so fantastic pillows...neither I have them at home.
One remark to the Moevenpick team, please check your aircondition settings. The whole hotel is a bit like a fridge....but that might only be valid for me.

The hotel is not in District 1, which was not a problem for us as we were using a taxi to go in and back, which is really cheap. Then you can walk around District 1. They have a shuttle service, not very frequently, but with some options that might fit you and it is free of charge

Upon arrival at the hotel we were warmly greeted by the wonderfully chirpy reception staff! We stayed here for two separate nights over a five day period (visiting the Mekong Delta) as part of our honeymoon tour of Vietnam. We were upgraded to an executive room, which was really lovely. It was modern, clean, comfortable bed and an exceptional bathroom. Fresh fruit was chopped and delivered to our room upon request, free of charge. Breakfast at the hotel was fantastic – there was lots of variety across separate food stations. Several chefs were cooking fresh food on demand for you. All the staff were very polite and friendly. But – beware. The Chinese tourists in the hotel were the opposite! In the restaurant for breakfast each morning, we found them to be very rude: pushing in front of us, and being impolite to the lovely staff! That aside, the hotel is a short, inexpensive taxi ride away from the centre of town, and although it’s still in a very busy area, this makes it very good value for money. We would like to thank the staff for looking after our luggage and valuables while we visited the Mekong Delta for one night – and for allocating the same (upgraded) room on our return.

Tips:
There is a small bakery/coffee shop attached to the hotel, which you MUST visit if you like nice cakes! And, as we happened to go after 6pm, everything was half price!!!! Dangerous for our waistlines!

Would recommend a visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral and The Post Office. And the Level 23 Bar at the Sheraton is a must! The view is amazing, as are the mojitos!

If you like to go off the tourist trail and try a restaurant full of locals, try Hoang Ty – a restaurant a short walk from the hotel. They speak NO English, but will smile and try their best to please! It was an experience! The food was good, fresh, inexpensive, and not like the food we found elsewhere in the city.

We didn't use the spa, so can't comment.

I would happily recommend this hotel to anybody. As a final thought, I would just like to thank ALL the staff for making this a happy and memorable part of our honeymoon.

Having travelled throughout vietnam, this was our last stop. the staff were so friendly and welcoming (not something you get everywhere in vietnam) and the facilities were beautifully presented. The food from the japanese restaurant downstairs was amazing and authentic. Great option if you are wanting to stay close to the airport.

Stayed as a couple in sept. 2012 at the end of a three week tour through Vietnam, just before flying home. We could even check out late at 4 pm without surcharge.

Rooms very generous, modern and nice furniture. Connectors to watch from Ipad/notebook over TV were available. Room was perfectly clean and quiet.

The pool and the gym were great, too. Breakfast was the best of all three weeks in Vietnam. Staff perfect too and very helpful and cooperative. Service in the Business Lounge was great too, with free soup, snacks and drinks, nice sitting space.

Only most minor disturbance was that the AC in the public spaces of the hotel was cooling down a little bit too much. I would go there again in an instant. Stayed as couple in sept. 2012, both 33yrs from Austria.
