“Good place”

Pham Ngu Lao is known as the backpacker's area in HCM. The street is lined with affordable hotels and hostels as well as cafes and restaurants. You can buy food at local shops for a $1-2, and coffee is a lot cheaper. Pham Ngu Lao is also lively at night as some places are 24 hours and some close up real late. A Bahn mi from a local seller would cost a dollar, fruit shakes go at around $1.50. The streets are very safe even at night. Bars are lively and the beer here is cheap!

“Wild and dangerous”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2014 via mobile

Area for backpackers, cheap drinks, hostels you name it. Be careful when traveling alone at night. There's ladyboy with motor bike that could be hunting for prey and they will do anything to get their hands on your wallet or phone. Don't ever listen to them or let your hands off your pockets! Their bikes are modified so they could outrun you after they got your wallet or phone. Beware!!

“Love Hate”

I don't think anyone that comes to Saigon should go home without at least coming to see this area one time. It's a part of the wild side of Vietnam. People everywhere at night. Lots of drinking, some eating, some not. Cheap beers every stop. All kinds of folks from all corners of the globe. Late at night it can get dangerous however. Play at your own risk. The hotels are many and the alley places are great. Restaurants some are great and some are so so. Either way it's better then staying inside your hotel room. Have fun!

I went to work in the city, I stayed at Hotel Saigon Zoom 1 week, during the day I have to work with partner companies, the afternoon after work, I can stroll along Pham Ngu Lao street to the park 23/9. The hotel I was staying very close to Pham Ngu Lao. On Pham Ngu Lao has Pacific Fair, I could buy everything in it. There are many phven à café restaurant on this road.

“Vietnam Night Street Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2014

Pham Ngu Lao & Bui Vien Street is a must see! Especially the night atmosphere along Bui Vien street, many street stalls, bars to have a cheap beer and watch the world go by! Also many budget hotels and eateries along this street.
