We booked a day tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels and sightseeing in Ho Chi Minh City. Everything went perfect!

Our guide Hang was so sweet, made every little thing seem interesting and made sure we had fun!!! Our driver was quiet but also very nice!

Overall it was a very very interesting tour and we would definitely book Water Buffalo Private Day Tours again!

Bonus point: they sent us photos from our trip which they took with their own phones - THANK YOU!!!

I had the pleasure of a private day tour with Water Buffalo Tours during my short stay in Ho Chi Minh. As a solo raveller this represented my luxury 'treat' day, and at $180 for the day it is not an impulse buy. However, knowing it would be scorching hot throughout my visit I decided a private tour might offer comfort. It did. Tan and his driver were my personal service all day in their comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Great legroom too! Tan was a great guide, spoke excellent English, and was amiable and thoughtful throughout. The stops on the tour were all excellent, from the multi-faith temple, to the craftspeople working on the mother-of-pearl cabinets, to the bike ride in the countryside, to the gathering of fresh fruit for lunch at a locals market - every stop offered a chance to try something different, taste something new, or start a (translated) conversation with a local. All activities and lunch was already paid for, including the trip on the Mekong Delta and the subsequent instant transfer to the waiting boat to take me on a trip through the nearby creek, bypassing the lines of queuing tourists looking to do the same. What a great experience!

We took a private private tour of the Mekong Delta area with Water Buffalo tours during our short stay in Ho Chi Minh City, with our guide Thang. They organised an itinerary which had enough to do for the day, without things being too rushed. The car was comfortable and cool in the heat, considering the journey is considerable from the city centre, and the driver was safe enough. Thang was very friendly, with excellent English, and very funny. He was also flexible to any requirements or requests. Overall the day was magical, experiencing a lot of local sights, meeting local people, trying some local food in a beautiful set restaurant (including a dessert made from fruits that Thang helped us buy from a local market), taking a bike ride around a rural village and the rice paddies, and taking a long road ride around the Mekong delta. Overall the tour was excellent value for money considering we had a guide, car, and driver for a full day. I would highly recommend Water Buffalo tours for any going to Ho Chi Minh city.

We booked the Mekong Delta day trip and were not disappointed! Phuong's knowledge and English was excellent and we enjoyed all stops which included a temple, wood carvery workshop, a market, seafood restaurant, bike ride in the paddy fields and a cruise on the Mekong Delta.

I changed my mind about riding my own bike after witnessing the chaos of Vietnamese roads and my lack of recent biking experience! However I thoroughly enjoyed being on the back of a scooter and taking in the views.

An unexpected occurrence was becoming "celebrities" in the market but Phuong reassured us that this was harmless curiousity about our Western appearance. Despite this we did enjoy picking the fruit for our lunch dessert.

Phuong was helpful throughout the tour even teaching us about Vietnamese cuisine and how best to serve and eat the seafood we had at lunch. There was a lot of time spent in the car relative to the amount of time spent outside but the car was comfortable and welcome respite from the intense heat in the Mekong Delta region.

The trip was expensive but it was worth the extra money for the private guide and driver and for the little extras like cold bottled water. We would recommend booking a trip with Water Buffalo Tours.

We are a family of 6 (2 grandparents in their 70's, 2 adults, and 2 teens) who booked both the Cu Chi a Tunnel tour and the one day Mekong Delta tour. Tan was our tour guide for both excursions and was great. He was punctual for both trips and easily went back and forth between English and Vietnamese as our group included Vietnamese-speaking only and English-speaking only people. The tours are exactly as described on their website. We started early for the Cu Chi Tunnel and avoided the crowds. We came back in time for a delicious meal of pho in a well-established restaurant which was included. The Mekong Delta tour was informative. The village market was eye-opening, Cao Dai temple was unique, and the furniture workshop interesting. The bike ride (scooter ride for those who did not want to bike) was lovely despite the brown rice paddies due to the drought. Lunch at a muddy beach was surprisingly delicious with a ton of great seafood (one of the best meals during our 2 weeks in Vietnam). The sampan ride was very nice. Tan accommodated our mother's request to stop by a place for coconut candy. This was not part of the tour but he made it happen and took us to an actual family's home to buy it instead of to a tourist shop. The tours were nice but it was Tan's thoughtful customer service skills that elevated the experience. He made both teens and elders feel comfortable and translated everything seamlessly in both languages so that no one felt neglected.
