The hotel is really good value and I'd agree with most of what has been written here. I'd also add that - for us, at least - the hotel's location was a real advantage. It's away from the minor hassle and sometimes underwhelming food of the backpacker district (Pham Ngu Lao / De Tham). Instead you are on a very authentic Vietnamese neighbourhood street, with groceries, food stalls and sidewalk cafés. During the first part of the morning, there are a few market stalls, which is great for getting tropical fruits. We hired a motorbike which made getting around easy.

We really loved our stay with Minh Chau - the moment we walked in we felt looked after. The staff are what make this place special. Our room was great too. We got tips about how much taxis should cost etc, and they will always call you a legit one. We found an awesome coffee place across the road. Our tour to cu chi booked through the hotel was great value and awesome. Highly recommended.

This is such a great place! The owner, a lovely Vietnamese woman, made us feel welcome the minute we walked in. She answered all our questions about what to see in HCMC and how to get there and ordered us taxis when we asked her to (there are some shonky taxis in HCMC so that was a relief). The restaurant was great too - food was SO reasonably priced and delicious. The room was small-ish but clean and pleasant. Reasonably central - probably a bit far to walk to most of the attractions but it's a $3 cab ride which we thought was more than fair enough. Can't complain about the room but really, it's the sense of welcome that made this one of the best places of our entire trip. Price is more than reasonable. The owner really went above and beyond the call of duty to be helpful to us. My friend and I gave her a big hug when we left and promised to return. Couldn't recommend more highly :)

We were initially unsure if we would stay here for the full duration of our trip to HCMC as the location wasn't what we had expected. However, from the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome by the lovely owner and her family. It is a little bit out of the way but in hindsight we had no problem paying the equivalent to £1.50 taxi fair to downtown Ho Chi Minh due to the great service and value of the rooms.

On arrival we were told that we would be upgraded to a superior room as our original room smelled of smoke from the previous guests, at no extra cost. The owner let us keep this room for the duration of our stay.

The owner gave us maps, told us how to get the bus to downtown (saving us some money) and suggested places to go, generally imparting local knowledge which we really appreciated.

Also really enjoyed spending time on the lovely rooftop terrace, keeping it open when we were the only people left, with the fastest wifi we've encountered in SE Asia yet

Overall a great stay made to feel so welcome and would definitely visit again!

Can't go wrong, great helpful owner, really nice roof terrace, rooms all you need and all for very cheap.

Woke up early (5am) one morning and instead of telling me to wait until 8am when the restaurant opened the owner & her son/s got up out of bed and sorted me a coffee & breakfast.

Also had an error communicating tomato sauce & ended up getting two tomato juices which we left along with a very strong coffee i'd received. They noticed we (me & my gf) didn't drink any of the 3 drinks then later called the room & told us we wouldn't have to pay for any of the drinks and then proceeded to bring me a fresh, free, new, ice coffee which was 10 x nicer.

Don't usually rate on trip advisor but this place is the dogs bollocks. (That means good)

Room Tip: Probably all good.

I left my passport in my last hotel, I realized when I got to the Minh Chau. Phu, the owner, who is a lovely lady arranged a trusted driver for me to pick up the passport and bring it back to the hotel. so this is how it all started and then super clean room, nice AC and nice shower for about 15$.
place is close to the train station and hotel always have a very reasonable motor driver right out side the hotel. you can go anywhere with around 2$ motorbike. Minh Chau is defiantly the place to stay in Saigon.
I suggest booking the place directly through the hotel itself. and you can ask for anything that you need in the city from Phu.( train ticket, tour, ....)

enjoy your stay:)

This place was fantastic. They provided anything and everything we needed including great recommendations for pho. Ms. Phu, the owner is so sweet, and her son is charming as well. They're rooftop terrace was beautifully decorated and had really nice views. Great place for a relaxing drink. The location is easy access to the train station as well as the city bus which takes you right to the attractions. I will stay there again on my next visit to HCMC. They booked trains for us and did not charge us extra. They were awesome! Thanks for a great stay!
