I decided to stay here for eight days during a business trip in May 2013. I was looking for a simple but good-value hotel outside of district 1, with Vietnamese character and wifi. This hotel satisfies these criteria and a fair bit more too. The roof-top restaurant adds additional character and has a well-kept garden, maintained and cared for by a dedicated elderly gardener.
One key advantage is that the quaint hotel is family-run and the owner, Ms Phu, together with her family, offer more than many hotels in this price category. In particular, the family is knowledgeable about the local area and was able to offer sound advice.
My third-floor a/c room with en-suite bathroom was a good size. A minor point was the shower control for the water temperature, which on occasions was too hot.
After staying at a number of hotels in HCMC I found this offers excellent value-for-money.
There are many local businesses along the street, Hoa Hung, including local restaurants. Try the Vegan restaurant and the garden restaurant both just in the next side-street.More
