We were greeted at the airport after arranging the airport to collect us. We were met with a driver and another person from the hotel which was a nice touch. The drive only took about 5- 10 minutes as the hotel is very close to the hotel. We got a free pick up to and from the hotel back to the airport as we booked a junior suite.
The front lobby of the hotel is like a 5 star hotel but there is a slight smell of cigarette smoke in the lobby. I booked this accommodation with hotels.com and there was a mix up with the extra bed for our daughter. I was told when booking there would be sofa bed we could use instead of having to get an extra bed at an extra cost. They tried their best to resolve it.
We were taken to our room on the 8th floor but when I booked this I was told there would be a separate sitting area and then the bedroom this was hotels.com fault not the hotels but there was the bed and a couple of chairs in the room this is not what I would have expected for a junior suite.
When we walked in the room there was also a very strong smell of cigarette smell in the room and in the lobby on that floor. I immediately said we can not stay in this room it just made us feel ill. They immediately moved us to room 909 which I think is the suite at no extra charge. This room was beautiful. A large sitting area with tv and then a sliding door to a huge bedroom, bed at one end with a tv and a desk at the other. The bathroom is large with a separate toilet, then basin, good size bath and a nice large shower. The only problem with the shower was it took ages for the hot water to get hot and it wasn't hot enough. The bed and pillows were comfy. Our daughter slept on the sofa and she said it was very comfy. We just got extra blankets for her.
Because we changed rooms the fridge was warm so we couldn't get a cold drink. I rang reception the ask for cold drinks and within a minute some came replaced the fridge and then put cold drinks in the cold fridge and I also asked for ice and within minutes they came with the ice. So service was excellent,
They have a shuttle bus that takes you into town a few times a day but we missed the shuttle so we took a taxi it cost about 80,000 dong about $3.50 one way.
The breakfast was ok not a huge amount of variety but it was nice and the tea was actually hot and the juice was cold.
The pool is on the 2nd floor not big but pleasant to cool off and relax by.
Overall I would stay here again but would only book the suite because of the size of the room. Great for families.
Staff very nice and they try to make your stay pleasant.
I would say its a 4 star as they state. The only thing we didn't like was the cigarette smell in parts of the hotel.
