The Saigon View Residences are only a short Taxi ride from the shopping centre of Ho Chi Minh city. We stayed in a two bed apt for 3 days and the apt had all we required, with its own fully equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. The trip was purely for shopping, after 5 days relaxing in Phuket (see review under West Sands).
The SVR arranged for us to be picked up at the airport for a cost of US$20, which was good value when the return journey cost about US$8. Ho Chi Minh is such a busy city that the taxi driver could take you anywhere and unless you knew where you were going, as a first time visitor you would never know.
The staff at SVR were very helpful and had a good use of the English language. Breakfast was provided on a daily basis, though the choice was a little limited and you need to order the night in advance. They also provide room service, though this is done via a local restaurant/takeaway. The choice of dishes offered was good and the food arrived hot and very tasty and was of good value. We had a meal for 3 delivered for US13 on one occasion and had a meal and sweet(apple crumble) on another for US$17.
The apt was cleaned and bottled water supplied daily. The beds were hard but were very comfortable to sleep in. We had an apartment on the 11 floor of 12 and had a good view of the surrounding areas.
If you do venture out of the hotel for a walk, try and stick to the main road/lanes, as we ended up taking a wrong turn and finished up down a small ally way, which was the access to the locals abodes, not the sort of place I would have wanted to be at night, though the local people were very friendly that we spoke(most not understanding english) to.
The local market (Ben Thang) is a $US3 taxi ride away. The goods on offer are all mainly copies but of good quality. Haggling is a must, as the price offered is doubled the price that you finally get. You will find yourself quibbling over US$1 in the end, just pay it, as their need is greater than yours.
Crossing the roads is an nightmare, even if you use the crossings. It seems to work on the basis that, you walk across and the motor bikes will ride around you, it is the cars that you need to worry about. In the end, they will not knock you down, but you need to take care.
A visit to the war museum was a bit of a let down. It seems to focus more on the atrocity of the war, then the actual history of the war. Though it is worth a visit at only 75c per person, I would not make it a highlight of any trip.
To get access to Vietnam a visa is require for most foreign visitors. Obtaining a pre visas via the internet is the way most tourist go, but it is not until you arrive at the "Visa On Arrival" desk, with all your pre paper work and photos that the real fun begins.
You are then handed another form to fill in, with some details that you filled in for your pre visa via the web site, plus more questions that you wonder why they are required. It would not have been so bad if the man those job it is to check you pre visa details and hand you the new form, was not so miserable. After half an hour wait, which could be longer depending on the number of arriving flights and passengers requiring visas, we were summoned to the counter to pay our US$45 per person.
The pre visa companies on the Web offer a priority service for US$15 per person, which could be a must if you are in a hurry, as we saw a lot of official people pushing paperwork through in front of yours.
Never ventured out of the City to see the surrounding areas of Ho Chi Minh, but will definitely come back for another visit in the future.

We checked in early before noon for a night and they had the room ready for us. As there wasn't enough space in the two bedrooms, our extra bed was placed in the middle of the dining area with the dining table pushed to a corner, rendering it useless for dining. The living room air-con was leaking and water stains were visible on the chairs placed under it. The lap pool on the ground floor is great and deep enough to have a good swim in with a garden view. Gym facilities were also decent. Overall, the apartment needs a refresh and better maintenance.

This hotel is in a quiet area out of the city a bit. We enjoyed the area as there are markets close by for local people rather than tourists. It was only a $3 cab trip into the city so we preferred this. The staff are lovely and would help in any way they can. The pool and gym are fantastic and we used them each day with the heat. Just make sure you wear ear plugs though as I picked up an ear infection from the pool.

Room Tip: We had a family room with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It was great. We paid extra for an extra...

Although the location is a bit out of the way. But taxis is easily available in the lobby. The staff there is very helpful. The room is big and clean but the breakfast provided is a bit lousy. Kitchen is available for you to cook. It take abt 50000 for you to travel from hotel to Ben Thanh Market. Basic necessity is easily available nearby. There is a Coop Mart nearby. Worth to Stay!

Our family stayed here for 3 nights in March 2013 and loved the location as you could see the locals go about their daily life and not the tourists ! Maybe stay closer to the city if you like watching foreigners.

The rooms were large and clean , staff very helpful and it has a great indoor pool . sauna and gym

A 3 minutes taxi ride and you are in the middle of the city , with everyone else !

We are now finishing our 3 week trip around Vietman and this was a favourite hotel.
