Booked this tour with Viator and it was run by the excellent Urban adventures. We were on the small group tour and picked up outside the Saigon Opera House at 8am. The bus was a good size for our party of 15 guests. Our Guide was a young Vietnamese girl (who was excellent at her job!) and she told us about various things on our 2 hour trip to the Delta.
After a short coffee stop we continued our journey for about another 20 minutes or so to a small port on the river. We then visited 2 Islands the first of which were we were given samples of local exotic fruits and entertained by a local traditional music group. After this we visited another island which had a bee farm as well as a small cottage industry making all things out of coconuts. In fairness my initial thoughts were they would be the usual tourist trap but no pressure was put on anyone to buy. Lunch was served nearby and we were treated to the infamous elephant ear fish as well as spring rolls. The fish is a really ugly looking thing but tasted very nice. We then took a motorised tuk tuk ride off the beaten path and this was great fun. Then we were onto the small boats into the small inlets of the Meekong. This was fascinating and an excellent way to see the beauty of this region. Once we had done this we took the boat back to the port and took the long journey back to HCM. Overall an excellent day which was great value for money and highly recommended.
