Dong Khoi St overcharge for the same item you will purchase one street away. When in Vietnam spend a day take notes of places and collect their card write on the card the products you like and the price. When you get back to your hotel over a drink compare and when you are ready complete your shopping in no time. Having said this Dong Khoi is the main street with Notradame cathederal at one end and the river at the other end with plenty of food places and much to see of course its a must do. You can get from one end to the other at a casual stroll in 30 mins. Do have lunch at the Continental hotel out in the court yard with it's fantastic ancient frangipanis i love this place with all types of food even nice pizza. It is right beside the Opera house and behind the opera house is Highland coffee another chill out place. I always walk Dong Khoi when in Vietnam as it is the main hub however do little shopping there.

“Worth a stroll but generally uninspiring”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013 via mobile

Historically relevant but lacking much of its former charm with some exceptions. I agree that the side streets hold more interest and hidden gems (have one particular bakery in mind). Take it all the way to the river and stop in at the old Majestic Hotel, take the matchbox elevator to the rooftop restaurant & bar, and enjoy an inflated lunch or drink while overlooking the industrial Saigon River, understanding instantly why your room stocks bottled water.

“Main street, but take side streets as well”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013

This is where the best shops and restaurants are. Come and walk along here but don't be afraid to walk down the other side streets for local fare

“worth a quick stroll”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

I thought this street was over rated. Yes, there is a Notre Dame lookalike and the Post office is in the design of Musee DÓrsay but, really? I like the statue of Ho Chi Minh and the topiary.
