“To see the opera house”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

Ms. Hanh from Asia Tour Advisor company took us here in a beautiful morning. This square in front of the opera house is supposed to be the only place in Ho Chi Minh where you can see the clear blue sky above your head. And of course great for taking photos. The buildings in this area are still preserved in there former shapes of the colonial days.

“Alluring but beware...”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

This is the touristy street of Saigon. It is where you would find the Opera House, the Caravelle Hotel, the Louis Vuitton boutique, the Continental Hotel to name a few. At the corner which is Le Tanh To St, you would find the Parkson and Vincom Shopping Centres. I enjoyed walking along Dong Khoi Street. It has this glitzy yet down to earth feel to it. However, you need to watch out for those persistent shoe shine boys who sometimes come to close to you and the cyclo drivers who in sheer desperation would want to fool you with their hourly rate. All in all, it is a colorful street permeated with different characters. I still find it charming though.

“Shopping not what it was!”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

This street was lined with many small shops 8 years ago. Today their are few clothing shops and the ones remaining have high prices. I am sure you can do better in the states. Where the shops once stood are now large hotels and designer shops like Chanel, Ralph Lauren and more with barely a customer in sight.
Minh Khoa who was once known for couture frocks now only does wedding dresses and the clothes he once designed are no longer. Creation and Thai Silk are there but very pricey. This city it is now trying to be upmarket without many shoppers looking for that.

“Heart but not soul”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

A street for shoppers at first sight; don't be shy and walk without concerns into every small alley at its sides and you'll have a complete different perspective. Leave behind the flashing logos of the main windows.... you didn't fly several hours to see a carbon copy of any main street of the world!
