Owner description: Let us take you on a journey to some of the world's most significant sites. Visit the historical Cu Chi tunnels, the laidback backwaters of the lush Mekong Delta and the UNESCO-listed Can Gio Biosphere Reserve. We offer authentic experiences in areas that can only be accessed via the region's scenic waterways. Cruise between verdant rice paddies and mirror-like pools along the tributaries and canals of the river of nine dragons - the Mekong Delta. Step back into Vietnam's not-too-distant past at the Cu Chi Tunnels to experience wartime life. Cruise mangrove forests off Vietnam's southern coastline and learn about the diverse flora and fauna of captivating Can Gio. Fall into the local rhythm and take time to enjoy the here and now. Connect with Vietnam's landscapes, warm people and perhaps, even yourself.

This is a must do,about 1.15 hours away by river express, see how they lived and survived in the tunnel complex.
Go down into the tunnels, don't forget they were only about 40 kgs.
Luckily they have since been revamped for Europeans, our guides made the trip informative and enjoyable, and I was back in my hotel pool by 2pm.

Did the Mekong Tour today and we are tourists who dislike tourists....if that makes any sense! This tour is unlike many others out there in that you are not subjected to queues or hordes of other tourists, you take the speed boat from the main pier in HCMC, everywhere you go it is the 'genuine Vietnam experience' and you are alone with the 12 or so others on the tour....but like any really memorable tour the guide has to be the star...and Tam is certainly that. She tells you truthfully and honestly about life for the people in the Mekong Delta, good and bad, she speaks beautifully and is genuinely a beautiful person. Les Rives is very lucky to have such a person on staff.
Thank you for a day we will not forget.

We did both the Mekong Delta for a day and the Cu Chi Tunnels for a day. We had read reviews and decided to go for the private tour. We went as a family of 6 so was the better option. Not the cheapest but defintely worth it as we were on a speed boat and flew past everyone else on the water to get to places first. We had Tam as our tour guide. She was lovely, spoke good english, very knowledgeable and loved her job. We were picked up from our hotel both days and provided with breakfast on the boat and lunch.
The first day we did the Mekong Delta, however instead of going where all the tourists went we were taken off the beaten tracks to small local villages. It was good to get out of the tourist rat race and experience the real Vietnam. We went to a local village where we were able to go through people's homes, some lived with 4 generations under one roof and had bomb shelters in their homes from the war. We visited local markets(very eye opening), some local temples, orphanages and stopped to see children along the river.
The Second day we did the Cu Chi Tunnels. We were picked up early from the hotel. As we were on a speedboat again we were some of the first people to arrive at the tunnels. The earlier you get there the better it is as all the crowds generally arrive by car/bus around 10am. We started early so it wasn't crowded and we could spend longer at each place. There is a shooting range out there and we shot the AK-47's and the Machine Guns used in the war. There is a small fee but worth it! what powerful weapons. We finished up about 12pm at the tunnels, jumped back on the boat and had lunch waiting for us which we ate on our way back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Highly recommend paying a little more for a private tour, its defintely worth the experience.

We've just got back to our hotel after an excellent seven hour trip in/on the Mekong Delta by speedboat. After researching on TA, I chose Saigon River Express (Les Rives). The day exceeded my expectations due to the combination of fun, education and customer service we experienced. At each location we visited, we were looked after by our guide (Kha?) and his team, which removed any uncertainty about doing a home visit or learning about unusual fruits in a market that only the locals would normally use. It is our last full day in Vietnam and I'm really pleased we've ended our trip on such a high note.
