“A Great half day out”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

This was definatly worth doing. Lets face it, everyone is facinated about the Vietnam War and the tunnels payed a major role in the aiding the Vietnamese and their ability to defeat the Americans - so to get further insight into these incredibley hardened figters, resiliance that you cannot imagine, to visit this site is a must do whilst in Vietnam.
We travelled with "Saigon River Express" which was great so we wnet via high powered speed boat and very convenient as it leaves from the Central Point in Saigon on the river at 7am and was back by 1pm, served a snack on the boat and lunch at the tunnels.

So put this on your MUST DO list whe in Saigon and go by boat rather than sit in a bus for 2 hours...

“The Mekong Delta - 1-day tour by boat with Saigon River Express”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

We are 4 adults and 2 kids (8 and 15yrs old) and having lived in Vietnam for 8 months we had some friends for Christmas 2012 and decided to take the boat tour which we believe is better than by bus.

We booked via email, and paid with credit card on the dock. The Tour company collected us and dropped us off at our home as well.

So the booking experience etc was all very good. No hassles.

The tour was great as we made our way by river up to and in the delta, well worth the insight into the daily lives of the Vietnamese and how they virtually live off the river. The river and its tributaries play such a huge part in their lives.

Facinating - probably describes it best.

Boat trip great - with plenty water/fruits and snacks - wth lunch included in a local village - great food...!!

Well recomended and well worth it and i really do recommend the Saigon River express tours...

“The best way to see the Cu Chi Tunnels”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

I made reservations for our group of four a couple of months before our AMA Waterways trip to Vietnam. It took them a couple of days to reply to my email enquiry, but once they did we were all set, and responded quickly when I advised them our hotel had changed. Duc picked us up at our hotel at 7:00 a.m. We were initially worried about breakfast, but we needn't have been. They served wonderful Vietnamese coffee, soft drinks, bottled water, fruit, and really good ham and cheese croissants on the way to the tunnels. We had a decent sized crowd, 14 of us, and since we had spent 7 days on the Mekong we sat inside out of the sun and let a family that had just arrived sit outside on the bow to enjoy the view. It was cool and breezy.

The ride was quicker than the bus, and since we left pretty early (7:30 from the dock) we arrived along with the first of the tour buses. There were maybe two or three small buses in the parking lot when we arrived, and by the time we left there must have been 50. It was nice taking the tour when it wasn't too crowded and before the real heat of the day, and Duc gave a really good tour, patiently waiting for those of us who wanted to spend some time at the shooting range.

When it was all done, we had a delightful lunch at an outdoor restaurant perched over the river where the boat was tied up.

We talked to some folks from our river cruise that had booked a bus to the tunnels, and they didn't have nearly the day we did. They left about 9:00, plodded around with the crowds and the heat, and got back to the hotel about 3:00 hungry, hot, and tired. Their tour was cheaper, though.

“Great Day Trip”
Reviewed December 28, 2012

Booked the 1 PM trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels, Pick up and drop off service is prompt and efficient. We were 15 minutes into the trip when we stopped and turned around as a "downpour" was about to make its presence. Lucky we did as the new boat had side blinds which kept us relatively dry whilst the crew was drenched.

A nice authentic meal along the way. 10 people max on this boat which is quite comfortable. About 1 1/2 hrs of failry scenic riverside that tends to blend at full throttle of a 200 HP Evinrude. Host Luk was very accommodating and bought all ponchos on arrival at the tunnels.

The rain added to the authentic misery of this place. Truly sad the lengths that a people will go to to defend their country, It was a extremely informative and quite confronting tour.

As previously stated , there is a rifle range and the only takers in our group were...you guessed it, the gun crazy 20 something Americans.....It seems they have not learnt a thing some 40 years later!

Well worth it....by the way I'm 6 ft 3 and 100kgs....just fit in the tunnels that had been widened for tourists... very claustrophobic but an eye opener. Great Day and lots to be learnt!

“A memorable tour with family”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

I echo all the other reviewers who've given this tour operator 5 stars.

From a customer relationship stand point, my communication with the tour operators from the beginning was superb. A few people on the tour group had experienced the Cu Chi tunnels in previous trips, but wanted to go again using River Express, and the experience did not disappoint.

The mode of transportation is by far, the best to get you to and from Cu Chi, with the tour finishing by approximately mid-day. Secondly, our tour guide and the boat crew was just exceptional. I have the attention span of a 5 year old, so I tend to get bored very easily - particularly as I've been to Cu Chi before and was VERY disinterested in the prior experience. However, the young tour guide was very good in his comunication - and this made all the difference.

A note to management - look after your employees. Good employees are hard to find.
