Dai Nam is a very large attraction which includes the zoo, temple, man made sea and rides. We went to the temple and the zoo and you either need to drive your own car around the park or use their electric cars because there would be no way you'll have any energy left walking from one section to another. The temple was magnificent with gold features.

The zoo however would be something I wouldn't recommend. All the animals look so sad and distressed and their enclosures were clearly not accommodated to them. Every small animal had identical enclosures and the animals were only fed fruits (we saw bears being fed bananas). You could also ride an ostrich for 30000VND and clearly ostriches aren't meant to be ridden. My heart broke going into this zoo. I wouldn't come back here.

This app made me feel incredibly sad and sorry for the animals. The tigers were hissing like an angry house cat. They were in enclosures full of cement. The deer enclosure was filthy. The elephant enclosure was overcrowded. I saw somebody throw sticks at the elephants and nobody seemed to do or say anything. Beyond that there was inadequate signage. No maps provided.

It costs just 50,000 dong to enter and there are lots of interesting animals to view. We had gone to look at the Komodo dragons - but there were none. Alas, I am not convinced that the zoo us up to standard as far as animal welfare is concerned. And visitors have a bad habit of throwing rubbish at the animals to provoke a reaction. So the crocodile pens, for example, had plastic bottles, etc in them.

Pretty huge area and not very crowded when we visited (mid-februrary). The animals though have horrible conditions compared to zoo-animals in nothern europe. Especially the elephants seemed to have lost their mind. It was very sad.
