“Cool place and great food at fantastic price”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

This restaurant has everything going for it! This place is fun to be in with water, crazy stairs and great setting. The food was excellent and the portions generous, service was good and the place was jumping. I would suggest making a reservation. A great value for the money.

“Thumps up for this Vn restaurant”
Reviewed October 4, 2012

I would definitely say this restaurant is perfect for foreigners.
Very delicious traditional Vietnamese food but not much herbs so any foreigners can enjoy the food. Staffs are very kind and styled and peaceful interior decoration.
all the staffs were good at english and all kind.
Especially i liked the sour vegetable soup & vietnamese style pork rip w/ soy sauce.
However it was little hard for me to find the location - but once you use your smart phone then no problem w/ google map.

“A Gem of a Restaurant”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Recommended by a friend in Saigon and also independently by the Hotel Manager, this tucked away restaurant is a must do when in Saigon. Occupying a three storey house, this uniquely styled place has a extensive menu that has items to suit all tastes and is for all those who want to taste high quailty Vietnamese food. Let the waiters guide you through the wonderful offerings, but if you can try the zucchini blossoms (really they are buds!), clay pot pork, sour chicken soup and rock salt and garlic praws (we had two orders of these!) all the dishes were great.

“Didn't bother trying the food”
Reviewed October 2, 2012

Got to the restaurant and it looked amazing, made a reservation as we'd noticed that other restaurants in HCMC seem to ask if youd made one and if not they just chuck you at the worst table they have available.

Even with a reservation we received the worst table possible, in the main entrance to the restaurant in what seemed like the most unromantic setting for a meal ever. The atmosphere in the area we were in was terrible. We were then advised that the menus were 'busy' by one person, then 5 mins later the next guy came over and said the menus were busy and he'd advise us what to have if we told him which meats we like. After feeling under a bit of pressure we ordered whatever he suggested was good. My wife and I discussed the garbage table we'd been given and how ridiculous it is to order food without having any choice in the matter, stood up and told the guy we didn't want to bother. We maybe should have asked to move table but after how bad we felt after being in there for 10 mins our experience had already been ruined.

After all the positive reviews on this website we were totally disappointed, the best decision we made was leaving the place.

“You cannot miss this place!!”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Apart from the beautiful decor and peaceful surroundings, which is hard to do in a place like Ho Chi Minh. The staff are amazing and fly around the place like ninjas. when you go you'll see how hard this actually is with plates of food and drinks!!
The food is out of this world. Its not just good food for Vietnam as some reviews suggest. It is world class cuisine at a Vietnamese price. If I was able to I'd send a michelin judge there today.
The reputation of the place is very deserved and currently the food is slightly overshadowed (by expats here in Ho Chi Minh) by the fact that 'Brangelina' ate here recently with the family. This is fine but please go and let the food and atmosphere speak for itself.

Things to look out for are
Tofu fried with lemon grass
Tiny little zucchini flowers in garlic (I googled this and although they called it Zucchini flower I believe they are actually a type of Jasmine flower - please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!)
Pork and Eggs
Soft shell crab
Caramelised pork
Fish with Passion fruit
Pork ribs with Pineapple
Pumpkin soup
little cactus thingies - sorry I don't know the name but are reminiscent of Aloe and totally delicious

You could start with these and everything else is totally amazing.

The menu is quite overwhelming to start with but after a few visits you get the hang of it.
If you are unsure, the waiters are happy to recommend an entire meal for you and I've done this a couple of times now and never been let down.

Drinks are great and include loads of cocktails and a variety of fresh juices. They have straws for the drinks made from the stem of the morning glory which is a great touch.

Very reasonable prices for the quality, I ate there last night and we had 8 or 10 dishes between 5 of us with several beers/wines/cocktails and we sat there for the best part of three hours and it came to just over 500,000VND each ($20-25 US).

If a meal of this quality and freshness was served in the US or Aus then you'd be looking at hefty bill pushing $100 a head or more no problem.

Do yourself a favour and get there now!

P.S. If you are a large group of diners they have opened a new place literally across the street and you are served by the same kitchen with the same food and the its almost a mirror image in terms of decor. You'll be happy either way.
