We stayed in the deluxe double room and thought it was pretty nice. Room is a nice size, big enough for what you need with space for a table and sitting chair. We had a room with a view of the park and backpacker area which was nice. Most hotels in HCMC in this price range don't have a window or one that is small as heck so this was a luxury! The room looked like it was recently renovated so it's a bit more modern, newer and not tacky like some other hotels we stayed at (although the construction standards and craftsmanship are subpar, like most hotels in Vietnam). The bed was comfortable and clean, WIFI was good and worked, LCD TV had a lot of channels, shower was strong. The location of the hotel is good and walking distance to most places; about 5 minutes from the backpacker area just across from the park and about 10 minutes from Ben Thanh market. The breakfast was pretty good and sufficient with your selection of asian food and some western stuff. The bellmen were helpful in carrying our luggage and hailing taxis for us so no complaints there. Hotel is close the airport, only cost about $5-6 USD.

Ave sized but clean rooms, the corridors are a little different though- carpet seems worn and dirty , seen better days.
The staff are OK , friendly and willing to help.
Benh Thanh market is 10-15 min away if you want to walk, while backpacker's are is just 5 min away just after crossing the park fronting the hotel. Paid 50 USD/ for a de luxe room with free breakfast included . Breakfast itself is OK , of limited selection but well prepared and taste OK.
The drawback is the ongoing construction just at the back of the hotel which goes on 24/7 . The noise is such that it can wake you up and make getting back to sleep difficult.

Stayed here for 4 nights with my husband. We were taken aback by the tiny room, there was barely enough space to put our luggage. By the 4th day, we were sneezing & wheezing .. I presume it's the dusty, stuffy interiors. Also, we found it a bit far from the sights. You can walk to ben thanh market and to the rest of the bars & restos, but it's not a pleasant walk. You can get a hotel for the same price thats nearer to everything. Also, receptionists hardly cared... When we forgot our key inside the room, the guy receptionist almost gave us a glare. Okay, it was an annoyed look. But hey it was an accident and im sure it happens in their hotel. Only the lobby is nice, but dont be fooled. Doormen need to be a bit more alert, they tend to just hang out in the internet area.

Bathroom is okay though. Also, late at night, there are roadside restos t the side of the hotel so you can go down even late at night & have something hot if youre feeling peckish. But still the location was a huge hassle...

Wont stay in this hotel again thats for sure.

We paid US $75 per night for our connecting rooms on the 8th floor. Rooms were small but new, clean and well furnished. The best part was having the kids next door so we could all relax from a day of touring around. Also situated across the park from busy backpacker area (which was fun) and high enough from the street traffic at night. Price was higher than those on the other side of the park (could get family rooms for between US 30-$50 in one room at Beautiful Saigon and Hotel 68) but if you want space then Asian Ruby is great. Breakfast basic but ok - similar to other places of this standard.
We did a big group tour of the tunnels with TNK which is fine for this and then a 3 day small group tour of the Mekong Delta with Innoviet travel. Paid $600 for family of 4 but was well worth it. Just us and a French family and we enjoyed many of the non-touristy areas & activities. The floating markets a highlight and so too staying with the traditional family, cooking lesson and bike riding. However, we didn’t do everything on the itinerary so ask if you will see all as indicated.
Vinisun taxis are the way to go - even to and from the airport. Cost us no more than $120,000 dong (US $6)

Room Tip: Higher floors have less traffic noise.

On my second visit to Saigon I’ve stayed at the Asian Ruby 3 Hotel in district 1. It is not only close from the backpacker area but is also near the Ben thanh market. Once you reach Ben thanh Market most tourist destinations in Saigon are within walking distance.

The hotel was new, clean and better than expected. I’ve stayed at other hotels in the backpacker area but this place is the best by far. The bed was comfortable, had a flat screen TV and could use wifi in my room.

Breakfast was included but there wasn’t much to eat. The food was just average and I would choose to go out and grab a Banh Mi instead of the hotel breakfast. The hotel also arranges tours for their guests but it is rather better to book a tour at a tourist in the backpacker area.

We stayed at Asian Ruby 3 for 4 nights. We have been to Ho Chi Minh a few times, and found this hotel to be in one of the best locations for an easy walk around town, but near the backpacker area for booking tours, and a good choice of eating places. The room was well appointed. We were allocated a room near the top with a lovely view of the sunrise over the city. Breakfast was average. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for a room on a high level. (good view of the city to the east)

Service: Staff was very friendly, and accommodating to our needs, helping us with leaving our documents, and luggage as we went on a 2 day excursion to Nha Trang.

Room: clean and newer building/room with AC and showers. We got the "family suite" as there were 4 of us travelling (my husband and 2 of my cousins), which was essentially 2 adjoining rooms, which was great since we got 2 showers as well. As it was new, everything looked really nice, but you could tell that it has suffered a bit from the visitors, and need continual upkeep to maintain the beauty of the hotel (e.g. cracks from the corners of suitcases hitting it, or scuff marks on the walls).

Location: it's in District 1, close to the Pham Ngu Lao, which is the backpacker district where many tours are operated. We went down there a lot and got some great deals on our tours across the street.

Amenities: Not too many amenities, but they do have wi-fi in the rooms, and breakfast was decent and included.

Best part about the hotel: great staff with nice room amenities
Least favourite part of the hotel: tours have a premium (e.g. Mekong delta tours, Cu Chi Tunnels), and across the street Delta Adventure Tours offer it at a MUCH lower price, and are actually the operators of the tour that the hotel offers! Airport transfers are also $25 USD which is REALLY expensive, given that taxi vouchers from the airport are only $7 USD.
