“Clean and modern, great location and great breakfast but overpriced”
Reviewed October 3, 2011

Stayed at two hotels in Saigon, we loved this one but for the price $100 would have gladly stayed at our other hotel which was cheaper. However they did have two great amenities that cheaper hotels don't have: They had pool which is nice after a hot day and it is a great location next to the Ben Tanh Market. Secondly: Breakfast was great. Try and get a deal off agoda and then it would be worth it.

We stayed at Central Liberty for 3 nights. The hotel is centrally located, just 2 minutes from Ben Thanh market. It is within walking distance (about 15 minutes) to shopping places like Dong Khoi Street, Nguyen Hue and Le Loi Streets and many eateries are within reach.
We didn't bother to use the swimming pool and gym which are very small. Breakfast has nice selections and the items were changed daily so we don't feel bored eating the same things every day. When we told the staff that our departing flight was in the night, they let us know that we could use the bathing facilities at the pool in the evening before we leave for the airport. That's really hospitable and we were very glad to have the use of the facilities.

Very good hotel in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City 2 minutes away from the market. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Traffic noise a bit of a problem with rooms overlooking the front street but the rest were quite. Pool was clean but small and the stairs should have a hand rail.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side are quiter

Hotel in the middle of HCMH which is very convenient. Very close to the markets which have cheap food also cheap clothes, bags, houseware etc. Nice friendly staff but everybody seems to be pretty nice in the hospitality industry in Vietnam. Room was an adequate size for two people so we were happy. Very nice buffet breakfast, with omelette station, fruits, cereals, bacon, sausages, potatoes etc, breads, pastrys and asian breakfasts. Tea and plunger coffee available. One of the highlights of the hotel is the pool on the roof with sunloungers and amazing views of the city. There is also nice gym on the room. Did not try the spa as only stayed for 2 days. The only problem I had with this hotel is that the downstairs bar has a live band every night and you can hear it very loudly from your room. Due to the time differences we went to bed around 9pm every night and so had to put up with the intensely loud music at night.

Very happy with my stay at Liberty Central Hotel. Strategically located near Ben Tanh Market, popular restaurants like Pho24, Pho2000, Rat Hue, Mon Hue, etc. The room & bathroom is very clean.

The hotel itself was in a good, central location. The room was large, very clean and modern. The breakfast buffet was massive and full of pretty much anything you could imagine. Excellent value if you just want someplace to stay.

However, the rooftop pool - although attractive and clean - is very small (tiny) and usually full of screaming children. Which is great if you have children, but as a couple just wishing to relax is was not so good. Seating around the pool is at a premium - as there are only a couple of loungers and chairs, so we found that sometimes there was literally no room for us.

There is a spa / gym in the hotel. The massage was okay, but the facilities were drab and sterile - not what you'd expect at a good hotel spa. The massage room felt like going into a disused closet with a massage table.

Overall the stay was good, however it was disappointedly punctuated by being ripped off by the concierge...

The night before we were to leave, we booked a taxi at the concierge desk for an early morning ride to the airport the for next day and we were asked to pay in advance, which we did. When we arrived downstairs the next morning, no taxi had been booked. The concierge hailed one off the street for us (which we could have done ourselves). Although we had prepaid, the taxi driver had the meter on, which is how we realised that the concierge has charged us 250% of the taxi fare! I realise the concierge does take a cut (we are not naive travellers), but the whole thing felt a bit scammy. We contacted the hotel when we got back and received no response. So watch out.

Loved this hotel. Great position, couple of steps to Ben Than Market. (hang on to your purse) Close to Saigon Market. Not too far from Reunification Palace and War remnants museum. Hotel was very clean and modern. Lovely bathroom. Great selection for breakfast. Found the staff very friendly. Don't expect to swim laps in the pool but big enough to cool off in.
