This want really on our must see/do list for the weekend we were in ho chi Minh but we decided to give it a go and it was really great, got tickets on the door 5 minutest before the performance started and had a great time. It's a bit hard to follow what's going on as it's all in Vietnamese, but the music and puppets seemed to get this across regardless! Would recommend to anyone visiting ho chi minh with and hour to spare.

They said they didn't have any more front seats available so we had to content with seats fourth row from the back. We struggled to get a good view of the puppet show because many people seated in front of us had their cameras held up high to capture a video of the show and this blocked our view. They should stop the audience from taking videos and photos during the performance. My 7 year old son and I decided to move out from our seats and sat on the steps and this definitely gave us a much better view. It was great consolation that the usher saw the situation and told us we could take the seats at the 2nd row which was rather empty. Now, we had full view and had the best seats on the house! Audience who sat in the front seats were dodging the occasional splashes of water caused by the movement of the puppets in water. We were dry. You need to get front row seats to enjoy the puppet show. The dragon breathes fire and that was cool!

Not really impressive but if you have kids, go there and you will enjoy it. Not really impressive but if you have kids, go there and you will enjoy it. The performance is not bad but music is a bit loud. It would have been great if there was a translation fro Vietnamse to English language because it seems there was a story going on there on the stage.

This traditional Vietnamese show is pretty cool. Got somewhat bored, as I didn't know the language...all in Vietnamese....but it was still good and you can figure out what is happening in the various scenes. Very colorful puppet figures and keeps your attention for the most part. I kept diverting my eyes to the sidelines where the music and voices were coming from. They are all in view and it was just interesting for me to watch them instead at times. My hotel arranged this for me. Had seats on the third row, so good viewing, but the place is rather small so any seat is probably ok.
