Stayed for 2 nights. In all honesty our disappointment stems from the high reviews on tripadvisor which genuinely made us doubt whether we were even staying in the same place. The place is not awful but is completely undeserving of 3rd place and we felt it is very badly misrepresented on tripadvisor.

Family nice, welcomed with fruit & tea & a detailed explanation of the map.

Room horrible. The worst place we have stayed so far unfortunately and at $18 we expected a lot more. Very basic room, plain, 1 fluorescent strip light highlighting the serious damp issues on the walls and ceiling. Bed ok but a single thin sheet with no duvet / blanket...so too hot without a/c but freezing with. Bathroom small and grotty, shower head on its last legs & sprayed everywhere. When it rained the floor was black with dirt coming through the window. Fridge full of water dripping on the floor. Room generally just old and tired and in desperate need of an update!! (room next door was being renovated when we were there and other TA reviews suggest the bulk of excellent reviews on here come from a previous property they had before moving here so maybe they plan to renovate it all?).

Hotel very noisy. Mainly the family until quite late...we stayed in the first floor just above reception & all sounds resonate up to the corridoor and through the paper thin doors. In the morning they shouted to each other and their children & crying baby and we really struggled to sleep.

Breakfast was ok. Offered bread with jam or instant noodles. We had expected more considering the good TA reviews & the price of the room so sad to say we were again disappointed.

The family running it are kind and courteous but that isn't enough considering the price, bad state of the rooms and excellent TA status. The family and their baby and youg children just wasn't for us unfortunately. We wonder whether the dorms are perhaps better and this is where the excellent reviews are coming from? We only know that they cannot be from people who stayed in the rooms like ours.

Sorry to go against the grain on here but felt others should be warned to lower your expectations considerably if you plan to stay here.

Located in a quiet street at the end of the backpacker's spot, just by the local market, Long hostel is a nice family run place. They welcomed us with tea and fruit and took the time to show us where we were on the map and everything to see around by ourself, bus #, etc, without trying to sell us anything. WOW! Thank you again for this warm welcome.

They did their best to handwash our backpacks full of mechanical grease (from the bus suitcase) and they made a really good job.

The aircon was leaking in the room and they called to fix it the day after (cause it was sunday) and they were sorry about it.

We highly recommand this place! Thank you again!

we only had a day to spend in saigon, but we were glad to have spent the evening in this guesthouse. it's located in a central area, which made it very easy to get around. the accommodations were worth far more than the price, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

we were even able to chat for a moment with the hostess, mrs. long, herself. she looked after us as best she could, and made sure that we were comfortable and that we enjoyed ourselves during our brief stay. she even gave us some tips on how to get the most out of our stay, which helped a great deal!

we left a small gift for the hostess and the staff. other travelers have left countless gifts here, so i'm not expecting our gift to be remembered. but we gave it out of appreciation for the hostel staff's generous spirit, and we don't doubt other travelers would be inspired to do the same.

A real warm welcome and easy staff. English is good enough here. Rooms are normal, nothing fancy, but I guess pretty good value considered the rest in Ho Chi Minh. It is still in the centre area. Breakfast included.
