A night at Maxims is worth a visit in ho chi minh. I had the lobster banh xeo as a starter, followed by chargrilled fish cakes with lemon leaves. The food was delicious and as for the atmosphere, the jazz band played on... A few bossa nova treats and old jazz standards. The restaurant is beautifully set out with wood panelling and red velvet trims. worth a trip for something different. There is something of the kitsch here but it works.

On entrance into this restaurant you immediately get a sense of tranquility and stepping back in time. After jostling the traffic to get to ther address it was very pleasant surprise. The dining room is very elegantly set out and given i was there for a business dinner it was good to see the tables were not jammed together as was most restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City.

The staff are very attentive and professional. The band started playing which was loud enough to hear but did not drown out conversation. I did not realise that we would also get 2 dancing shows ... which was a pleasant surprise.

The menu was extensive but not overwhelming. The food was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed the clam dish. Overall the experience was superb and our party was feeling well fed, entertained and importantly relaxed by the end of the evening,. One of the best restaurants i have been too in HCMC.

We have been in Ho Chi Minh City for 5 nights and have eaten at a variety of restuarants. Maxim's was by far the best. It has a unique and old style decoration but as you settle in for your meal you start to understand the appeal of this venue. The food was well presented, tasty and suitable for my European tastes. The band and dancers added even more atmosphere to the evening and the attention to detail by the staff and management made this an amazing experience. We would certainly recommend this venue as a good value and unique evening out.

I have been to this restaurant more than a dozen times and ithe food is consistently good, the environment is nice and suitable for couples or a group, the entertainment is subtle and although targeted more at tourists is enjoyed by locals too. The phone reception is a bit challenging once you are in the restaurant but actually that might be a good thing...definitely one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in saigon.

We went to Maxim's for a special occasion dinner because of its gorgeous decor - 1920s style opulence I suppose. The staff were pleasantly attentive and the jazz band were just great - not too loud, and very good. The floor show of dancing ladies was odd, but sweet. The food was fine, but not the best bit.... This place is expensive by Vietnam standards, but three adults had a bottle of wine, and 3 courses, for less than 2m dong.
